it's funny how even though there are quite a few things in my life to be proud of and find joy in right now, the thing that has buoyed my spirits the most is making this shawl as a gift for my niece.

I might not be the aunt you see every week, but hopefully I can still be meaningful.

Suspending Link after he pointed out the how following Jonathan Chait after being accused of transphobia does not allow you to beat the transphobia allegations. In fact, it does the opposite.

To be clear: suspending Link was certainly a choice. And we know what KIND of choice it is.

Let me get this straight: Link, a Black user, got banned for calling out the Bluesky CEO for following a racist. That’s not a good look, especially given Bluesky’s historical treatment of Black users here on bluesky.

my work puts focus not just on what Mad representation looks like, but look at how Mad meaning making and embodiment occurs in the interactive medias that have helped me understand my Mad self throughout my life.

I'm not wanting to give too much detail about personal stuff right now, but as a small update, my family member is stable, journals have very kindly given me extensions to my deadlines, and I'm just going to take it as slowly and steadily through the rest of the month as I can.

honestly very disappointed to find that this article includes genAI images. I would implore you to change it to stock images by real artists - the medical humanities is built by and upon the work of such artists, and this is a betrayal of their creativity and work. citing it as AI is not enough.

#Wheelchair users - looking for recs for a small not too expensive push chair that reclines.

There are times/places I can’t take my power chair but my transfer chair’s inability to recline is really hard on my POTS.

I need an in the middle chair.

I'm not always fully able to tell what's real. this isn't because I experience a different reality, but just because I feel so disconnected from this one a lot of the time. especially when good things happen, it can be so hard to believe that they're real. so when I get to, it means a lot.

I hope that everyone that you are able to find things and people to give you happiness like that. it can't ever fully offset all the hardships, but it can mean you will have days where you lie in bed and just feel a fullness of heart and spirit. I treasure those moments very much.

between birthday and the end of the hermitcraft season I'm very squishy and emotional and full of love and gratitude for the things I have. I know my life does not look like the life of many 38 year olds. but it is mine, and I'm grateful for it. for the things that I love and bring me joy.

so, it's my birthday. I'm 38 today. and as has been the case for basically all my adult life, I'm not able to do any paid work. right now that's cause the (limited) capacity to work I've built is going on my PhD.

7500 words on the history of Madness in TTRPGs submitted. it only looks at major/high production games, I wish I had scope to look at more indie/zine ones but alas I'm only writing *one* chapter of my thesis on this, not all four 😂

now to rest and do things that feed my soul today/tomorrow.

Cornell is cancelling a distinguished professor's classes on Gaza and suspending him because of the complaints of a student who previously served in Israel's military surveillance agency and was literally recording the comments of other students in class and deliberately derailing discussion.
Early last semester, Droubi said, students began approaching Cheyfitz with complaints that a graduate student in the “Gaza, Indigeneity, Resistance” class appeared to be recording them, possibly to “gather their names and comments” and intimidate them. “We believe that a student came to the course for the sole reason of surveilling and potentially harming students in the class,” Droubi said. “That ended up proving itself to be true because multiple students came forward and shared their concerns with Professor Cheyfitz.” Cheyfitz said one Palestinian student quit the class after telling him she felt upset and frightened. During the conversation, he asked the graduate student to drop the course, and by the next class, he did, Cheyfitz said. The graduate student, Oren Renard, a PhD candidate in computer science whose identity was confirmed by other students in the class, previously served in Israel’s elite military surveillance agency, Unit 8200, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Genuinely, the number of AAA game publishers whose games I can purchase without worrying I am financially supporting human rights abuses is shrinking by the day.

Trying to balance "My job is to talk about video games" and "I want to make moral purchasing choices" is getting harder by the day.
