Saturday Morning Marble Game

Public playtest: Soon.
Full release: 2026.
Gonna be honest: When I submitted my game to the Godot Showreel I knew there were a lot of cool projects, my chances were slim and my game doesn't look exciting in short clips...
but I'd be lying if I said it didn't sting.
Could've used that boost. But so do others and I'm happy for them.

It's almost 2am and I am still tinkering with Shadows. There's even an Ultra setting now and I am questioning my own sanity.

Turns out having really simple shadows but at the same time casting accurately over short distance is kind of a contradiction. So I am bridging this with tons of options.

As yes, the Steam Entertainment Machine.

Gotta say, since I can now switch Shadow Quality on the fly, I admit, I like the low quality ones better. Yeah they're blurry, but compared to the High Quality PSSM ones, they got no splits (easy to see with player flying) and due to simpler shapes, there's less visual noise on the ground.

My last addition to Marble Game today: Shadow Quality. As the game only uses dynamic lights, shadows are some of the most GPU intense things.

So I also allow turning them off entirely.

Since screen-space and multisampling anti-aliasing methods aren't mutually exclusive, I'm offering them both.

This can be helpful since screen-space methods can reduce aliasing caused by shaders (reflections, refraction, etc). That way, both options can augment each other.

The current plan for Marble Game is:
* November: More work on game mechanics, UI, systems, implementing feedback, etc.
* December: Porting heavy systems to C++.
* 2026: Way, WAY more parts. Then release.

It's not gonna pan out like that.
But it's a plan.

I've also put controls for Brightness, Contrast and Color Saturation in my Marble Game.
That way you can make your machines look like David Lynch built them!

New bunch of player options just dropped:
"Toggle Speed Shift" (no more holding button) and "Auto Fly" (no need for Fly Up/Down buttons).

All based on feedback from wonderful playtesters. :)

Me, running through the other world of Silent Hill 2 Remake for the first time, sob-singing "Triangle Man, Triangle Man - Triangle Man hates Particle Man" - just like 24 years ago

man, working on Good Boy has been refreshing. It's been a long time since we worked on anything as openly as we are working on it. We'll be streaming the team playing at 3pm EST to celebrate the Early Access kickoff. Anyone down to join us?

Game I am working on with Terrible Posture Games just hit Early Access: GOOD BOY!

This has been an incredibly fun experience - development and playing (and I'm not a Multiplayer guy!) and I hope you're checking it out!
We hope you're as excited as we are! Grab Good Boy now! #earlyaccess #indiegame #excited

I have heard of the GabeCube.

I may not be the biggest fan of Valve, but this is the kinda PC I knew I wanted next. That is: If it's power efficient (< 50W from the wall in idle). If it can do that, I'd go for it even if upgrading is not an option.

On my quest to streamline building parts in Saturday Morning Marble Game, I have ignored systems I made long ago. Until now. May I introduce: the new Build Menu!

I am falling behind my own schedule for Marble Game, but nonetheless I'm taking a week or so off. Maybe two. And from socials as well. I just need a break.

Been playing around with the new quickbar in Marble Game and it was worth it. Much better now. Although I want to try one more thing: The quickbar is a fix for the main build menu being a bit cumbersome.

I have an idea I want to try to see if I can improve that, too.

A co-op horror comedy, where your gang tries to loot as much as possible without summoning the mutated pets that defend the town. Survivors split the cash, upgrade the burglar hideout, and grow their infamy.

Of course, we can’t guarantee there will be any survivors.

I'm impressed how many people I see on my timeline switching to Linux.

I love that. Although some may just want "Windows without the crap". Nothing wrong with that. You can make Linux into it, but it's not meant to BE that.

If you're taking the leap, take your time. (contd)

New quickbar is in place. For now this'll do. I think I am gonna add some auto-hiding once I get UI animations going.
Still not sure if the player should decide in which slots new parts getting added cause personally I am kinda into the FIFO style. Less inputs, quicker iteration.

I now had a year to sit on MGSV and I conclude it was a nice game.
Some things I didn't like:
* Replacing David Hayter
* I called that twist in the fucking intro
* The Metal Gear in this was more advanced than its successors

Not gonna lie, I'm a little in love with Star Trek: Prodigy.

I was hesitant initially because of the "made for younger audience", but this is just an amazing Trek adventure and I can't wait to see where it goes.
