you know, if I were a dictator trying to maximize personal profit at the expense of my people, I'd still throw some money into parks so they'd go on vacations with their families and take pride in their nation's beauty instead of constantly wanting to revolt against me. but that's just me tho

For the time being, "This isn't what I voted for" is one of the best possible things to hear, no matter how enraging and unfair it is. Convincing them to turn to the camera and explain they are now the correct kind of socialist will have to wait at least a minute, unfortunately
In the coming weeks, a lot of slow-on-the uptake folks are going to begin belatedly realizing Trump is both an inept moron and a dangerous autocrat. Our great civic challenge in these trying times will be calmly welcoming them aboard instead of primal-screaming in their faces.

Most of the things considered Catholic heresies are unbelievably minute stuff like this. The most bored people of all time. Handing out Nintendo Switches could've saved so many people from getting stabbed over whether the trinity is 33.34% Spirit or 33.32% Spirit
i think a lot of catholic history happened because people were bored. why else would the acacian schism, which hinged on whether jesus was "fully divine and fully human" or whether he was "one person with a divine and human nature", last 35 years. there was just nothing else to talk about i guess

Maybe it’s the parties whose views don’t make sense together?
Most voters operate somewhere in the weird middle with a lot of views that don’t make sense together.
Genuinely, just look at the breakdown across places like Montana. State went for Trump, republicans lost seats in the state legislature, and overwhelming majority for an amendment enshrining abortion access in the state constitution. Missouri did the same. Many such cases

There are people who still follow me here, for some reason, who used to like to tell me I was being ~dramatic~ when I talked about what’s coming up in the state houses, and I’m just wondering how you’re all doing tonight, and whether your daughters have rightfully poisoned you yet
Buckle up, South Carolina. State Senator Richard Cash (R-Anderson) introduced S. 323 to ban ALL abortions in this state. No exceptions for rape or incest. No exceptions for a fatal fetal abnormality. No traveling out of state for an abortion. IUDs and some birth control pills banned. 🧵
