I'm old enough to remember being told that by now we would all spend Black Friday wearing VR helmets to shop all day in the "metaverse" and that some big forethinking company actually changed their corporate strategy and even their name to reflect this inevitability. What happened with that?

I would cancel my Disney and Disney-adjacent streaming subscriptions but I never subscribed as I found them loathsome. And I promise not to go on their cruises or attend their parks, which I also loath anyway. Perhaps I can just criticize my relatives for their choices if I’m left with nothing else?
