Trump’s threats toward Venezuela aren’t just bluster. CBC breaks down how Venezuelan crude, identical to Alberta’s, could undercut Canadian oil if sanctions lift — exposing how vulnerable Canada is to U.S. power politics. This is why public-interest journalism matters.

Every day, I get letters demanding that the federal govt or the GG or the LG “do something” to change or save Alberta. But the only people who can “fix” Alberta are Albertans. There is no magic constitutional genie. The responsibility is on all of us.
The UCP has made 2025 one of the darkest years for Alberta’s democracy.

Albertans can turn on the lights in 2026.

By simply being Albertan.

Let me explain. 🧵 open.substack.com/pub/drjaredw...

This information does not belong to the UCP. It belongs to Albertans. Time for a criminal investigation and an election.
Can we talk about THIS page for a minute?!?

AHS, while under the direct command & control of Smith and the UCP ACTIVELY destroyed evidence provided to them?

And records were withheld despite Smith’s promises?

The AG comes just shy of calling a coverup!

At its heart the Nordic Model tries to reduce demand for paid sex by getting society to view johns as predatory. I strongly believe it is a valuable approach. Where buying access to peoples' bodies has been legalized, demand increases. To meet that demand more women and girls are trafficked
Supporting the Epstein survivors is important, but please don’t support World Without Exploitation. They advocate for policies that are really harmful to sex workers, like the Nordic Model, which puts sex workers at greater risk of violence and poverty by criminalizing their clients.
NEW: Epstein survivors release the most powerful PSA I have ever seen.

Make this go viral so every member of the House of Representatives sees it.

NDP House Leader Christina Gray ripped into the flaws of the Eyant report as well today…

She highlighted the shortcomings of the report, how that was by design to allow Smith and her cabinet to avoid accountability & that the judge felt he wasn’t able to get full answers.

Voltaire warned us: "Those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities."
I once wondered how seemingly normal, decent people could be persuaded to commit acts of extreme cruelty & violence against fellow citizens. It couldn’t happen here, I thought. The cruelty and inhumanity of ICE agents have changed my mind. We have in our midst the making of American atrocities.

Alberta's crude oil production hit an all-time high in July 2025, reaching 4.32 million barrels per day, but the province still has one of the highest unemployment rates in Canada at 8.4%. Pumping more oil with less workers helps the corporation shareholders but doesn’t help working Albertans.

Alberta has been doing this for years. Drive Alberta's highways and you won't see beverage containers in the ditch. I support a local charity by putting all my cans/bottles in a bag that they pick up once a month. I get a charitable tax receipt at the end of the year.
The bottle bill will increase DC’s recycling rates. By making bottles worth 10 cents when they are returned, we are helping make sure people don’t just throw them on the ground.

I've had a Nexus card for years. @senatorpaulasimons.bsky.social is right on with her concerns.
If Canadians, travelling domestically, want to use the "good" security line at the airport, they need a NEXUS card, even if they aren't going to the US. And they need the blessing of Donald Trump's Homeland Security apparatus to get one. I'm calling on Canada to end this absurdity. #Canada #NEXUS

How incredibly sad. He was such a beacon of light.
I just found out that Dr. Darren Markland has passed away. I never met him personally but I followed him on the bad place. He was a beacon in the dark. He was a poet as well as a saviour of the people and he will be missed. Rest in peace Dr. Markland.
