Amazon is helping fund a $300 million build of a ballroom for the White House.

Independent bookstores are donating to food banks and organizations that help with food insecurity.

They are not the same.

Co-hosted my first big zoom event earlier tonight around labor organizing in documentary and felt like a kid again hoping someone would show up to the party. Out of 300+ registrants we had 120+ show up! 🥹 Happy to say that it was a successful event and I hope it was valuable to all who attended.

Black people actually did call all of this, so did Indigenous people. White people just thought we were exaggerating because you were fine with the violence toward communities that you thought wouldn't include you. But the thru line from eugenics, bleach, and Ivermectin to here was incredibly clear
This. This administration is even worse than any of us thought possible. Who had destroy NIH, CDC, USAID, EPA, scientific research all at the same time on their bingo card?
My thesis is that no matter how doomer you were in Nov. 2024, we're probably past your worst-case scenario for the first 9 months of this administration.

It's very strange for me to realize I wasn't pessimistic enough.

Yesterday was a much needed reset day, so I went to finally watch Sinners at the Grand Lake Theater for the 70mm IMAX + bc it was one of Ryan Coogler's hometown spots, only to find out they don't play that format on Wednesdays 😭. Still a great time had. So good! Need to rewatch ♥️

“'This is really going to impact institutions that we take for granted... like our museums, our historical societies, our public libraries, our academic libraries — just a lot of people that keep information free and accessible and online.'

A thing press institutions REALLY need to internalize is that 1000x more people will see the headline than read the article. If the headline leaves a false impression, but the article sets it straight, it doesn’t matter. You are spreading misinformation.
The framing from legacy media on the Ms Rachel stuff is insane. Nowhere do they say that these are baseless claims, or that what she said (every child's life is precious and worthy) is not "Hamas propaganda." If u didn't know the background to this story and saw this post, you'd believe their smear
