I was listening to this part of the podcast on a crowded train this morning, and I couldn't hold it together. Openly laughing and probably looking like a crazy person.
Will Arnett was on Conan and told a story about how Conan dealt with the death of his parents by accusing Jason Bateman of killing them. It’s so funny.

50th birthday of the Byte Shop was yesterday and the founder and a bunch of old timers from the homebrew computer club and the original Apple garage gang regaled us with stories of the early days of the revolution.

Overall trust in scientists and medical professionals is still rather high (Pew 2024). And only about 7% of American/Canadian respondents in a study (Gravelle 2022) are stridently anti-vax.

MAHA is platforming views of a very small minority, to erode the majority.

You may have heard that Trump’s extortion of University of California was defeated in court. But do you know who won this historic case? Spoiler: not a single UC administrator participated. It was all faculty members of the UC Faculty Associations and @aaup.org! Cc: @veenadubal.bsky.social

I’m curious how this might show up in other organisms? @drmichaellevin.bsky.social it feels like you’d have a point of view. Are cells and cephelopods religious?
I wrote a paper on my least favourite theory of religion: HADD
It’s good, you should read it! 😆
1/ 🎙️ New paper by Dr Aiyana Willard argues it’s time to retire HADD = “we’re hardwired to see agents EVERYWHERE” and replace it with something that *actually* fits the evidence 🪦➡️📚

Sixty years ago this week, Ralph Nader, then age 31, changed corporate and civic culture with his book 'Unsafe at Any Speed.'

Then, he brought in the ingredients and followed the instructions very literally to hilarious effect.

It was an intro to describing methodology, and a good bit
