'Telomere erosion is a hallmark of aging, yet its downstream mechanisms and impact on organismal aging remain unclear. This study shows that cGAS-STING inflammatory signaling drives premature aging in response to telomere shortening in #zebrafish.'

This cover highlights the article cGAS-STING are responsible for premature aging of telomerase-deficient zebrafish by Naz Şerifoğlu, Miguel Godinho Ferreira and colleagues. cGAS-STING are responsible for the premature aging of telomerase-deficient zebrafish. Short telomeres lead to genomic instability, inducing cGAS-STING pathway stimulation. cGAS-STING pathway inactiva-tion halts DNA damage response in the presence of short telomeres and rescues tissue proliferation, leading to overall recovery of organism fitness and survival. The front cover image shows the PCNA staining of intestinal tissues from Sting-deficient zebrafish.

Proud to contribute to this (Yes!) #Telomere study by Farida Djouad team. Morpholinos against zebrafish #TRF2 induce macrophage #senescence and block fin regeneration. #Parabiosis, #MacrophageTracking & #Transcriptomics show #p16-high, and low pro-inflammation.
