An inconvenient truth.

I have opinions.
I deal with realities of situations, rather than make believe.
I own my hypocrisies and are comfortable with them.

The UK has chosen an economic model that relies on immigration because it avoids:
raising wages to proper levels,
Refuses to invest heavily in automation
Or radically improving productivity

So the only way to boost GDP,is to bring in more workers, which in turn, more consumers, which = tax revenue
Immigration creates jobs, supports public services, & drives growth.

These are economic facts.

How is it that the only days we *dont* have the media banging on about immigration is on the days we’re handed the budget? #r4today

Unfortunately, we are well on the way to becoming a microwave society..

People expect things instantly..
If you think a seventh prime minister in ten years will magically solve the structural problems, deep malaise and febrile atmosphere caused by austerity, Brexit and social media, you're a fundamentally unserious person.

Do people really think this is the first time anything like this has happened?

The naivety..🤣🤣

This regularly happened in my industry from 2005/6 until about 2017, & then briefly again during the COVID lock downs.

No chance, us type of workers are looked down by large parts of the left and the right, classism and snobbery.

Couple of thought-provoking but worrying pieces in the FT today. First, does China want to buy anything from anyone? Not really, no different then to the US or many others. The lure of self-sufficiency. Most worrying, why is this thought a surprise? www.ft.com/content/f294...

Europe has nothing to offer and difficult decisions to make

One of the ways Labour is taxing wealth is the employer NI. Some people don't seem to understand it. This is a direct transfer of the tax burden from the worker to the profiteer. That is why the right pretend it's a tax on jobs. It isn't.
Our Labour government ARE taxing wealth.

They ARE making the wealthiest in society pay more.

They did it in the last Budget & I expect more tomorrow.

Anyone who says it's not happening is lying to you.

Anyone who promotes phrases like 'tax billionaires' with no details is selling false hope.

If she rose fuel duty, prices would go up, everything you own and use comes on the back of a HGV and/or Van, best you remember that.
Since 2011 the fuel duty freeze has cost the Treasury £133 billion.

This huge amount could have paid for lower train and bus fares, better stations, safer walking, wheeling and cycling and much more!

Rachel Reeves will freeze fuel duty to dodge ‘political suicide’
The chancellor will also highlight a rise in the minimum wage and plans to cut energy bills as she tries to win over voters by focusing on cost of living

Reminder: Labour under Corbyn reached its peak of 585k.

And had 520k in the year of the 2019GE.

Labour didn’t win that election, it got soundly beaten.

Abortion generally, is fine, however, aborting a child just because you don’t want a Boy/Girl is completely wrong & shouldn’t ever be allowed to happen.
The UK is a strongly pro-choice country with 86% of Britons wanting abortion to be legal in all or most cases. But the US anti-choice movement has been investing heavily into campaigns in Britain, and Nigel Farage’s Reform UK party seems to be support the interference.
The worrying rise of US anti-abortion rhetoric is in full force - how deep is Reform UK's involvement?
Money is pouring into anti-abortion campaigns in Britain, and it seems Nigel Farage’s party isn’t pushing back…

The ability for the drivers to strike has been made measurably easier because of Brexit.

There is no longer an abundance of drivers readily available to replace the ones going on strike, The courier companies will eventually realise this at some point,if they haven’t already
