Here’s a 🧵 of daily thoughts about the link between cult thinking, magical thinking, capitalism, technofeudalists, post-truth, group antisocial psychology, the rise of popular antisocial culture, and hyper individualistic thinking. Fascism, collaborators, hierarchical thinking, inhumane policy. 👇🏼

Looking forward to the priorities of tech being, "How can I better serve the planet and my community?" rather than "How can I better serve my masters that I depend on to pay off their debts?"

Someone did their research for this movie, that's for sure
Introductory text for a movie called Vesper -- Dystopian future

The New Dark Ages

Humanity tried to prevent the impending ecological crisis by investing in genetic tech.
It failed.
Engineered viruses and organisms escaped into the wild. They wiped out edible plants, animals, and large populations of humans

An oligarchy now thrives in enclosed cities called citadels while everyone else struggles to survive.

For food, people rely on seeds traped by the citadels, however, these are coded to produce only one harvest

There are only two types of products and services now: outright scam and pseudo scam (where you're like ehh technically I got something in exchange for my money but cmon)

My brain is fried from too many years paying too much attention to the far right. I used to think maybe I was being alarmist due to that media diet. I’ve realized if anything I wasn’t screaming loud enough. The line has already been crossed.

Magical thinking is the prevalent white American mindset and it’s going to be very difficult for people to overcome.

Agreed! It's protective that they don't fully engage their capacity to fast-forward their mental tapes and think deeply into the current and near future moments.

People even somehow convince themselves that inequity (in the form of poverty, racism, bigotry, you name it) is the lesser evil, an inherent part of life.

They have caught on to the scam, but they cannot envision escaping it.

These are the most dangerous people.

The elimination of USAID is a moral atrocity and all involved made a choice to enable, and then lie about, ending the lives of some of the most vulnerable people in the world.
MAE SOT, Thailand (AP) - Mohammed Taher clutched the lifeless body of his 2-year-old son and wept. Ever since his family's food rations stopped arriving at their internment camp in Myanmar in April, the father had watched helplessly as his once-vibrant baby boy weakened, suffering from diarrhea and begging for food.
On May 21, exactly two weeks after Taher's little boy died, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio sat before Congress and declared: "No one has died" because of his government's decision to gut its foreign aid program. Rubio also insisted: "No children are dying on my watch."
That, Taher says, "is a lie."

This very very very bad. I cannot stress this enough. I said that they crossed the Rubicon with arresting Ras Baraka several months ago. This is very bad and portends more bad things for regular people.

Weird. It’s almost like making accusations generates friction which generates news which rallies your supporters.

Okay, I can see why I liked this story. It fully frames the set up, without inconsistencies, before the second act, and the dip in the action. Dialogue is minimal. Good tension. They got me to care about the protagonist. Excellent music. Great actors.

Couldn't sleep so I'm watching Elysium for the second time ever. I remember it being amazing, and past me was absolutely correct about that.

The pro-infection advocates have now reached the stage that they are denying saying that kids can be used to boost adult immunity… by infecting them and spreading it into households… schools.

Too late now. It’s on the record.

The shame of it.

Of course, but the books have to have illustrations and can’t be too wordy because of her age. She loses interest. Libraries have some of these but ultimately its hard for them to have a wide variety for toddlers only

There’s the occasional book fair here but my kid gets bored so easily I really need to be getting new stuff fortnightly as opposed to twice a year…

FYI I already visit op shops. They’re skint

Has anyone in Australia got an idea of where I can bulk buy graphic books? I’m reading to my toddler 2 hours a day and she’s ravenous for new stuff. It’s really hard because her attention span is tough for text only but graphic novels or illustrated books are $$!
