There are a vast number of editorial reports by me out there in the world that have advised an author on the process by which they would request permission to use copyrighted song lyrics or lines from modern poetry. If it's copyrighted, you ask permission. No ifs, no buts. That's why AI is bullshit.

i think the biggest public relations coup AI boosters scored was calling it “AI.” people genuinely think it is an intelligence, and that when they query it, it is providing reasoned answers
it's jolting how little AI skepticism has reached the general public. i've had many acquaintances ask whether i use AI for research and seem shocked when i tell them it's completely useless for that purpose. my wife recently told her colleagues about hallucinations and it was news to all of them.

With the Arthurian book in the polishing stage, I find there's a bit of a lull in the editing / book doctoring work, so if anyone out there is looking for an in-depth structural edit, feel free to hit me up. I do mentoring too these days, by Zoom or Skype, and am quite happy to work with all levels.
