HELLO I WROTE A NOVELLETTE, about a trans woman who switches places with parallel selves to avoid the consequences of her decisions (www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0CPX6VJ54) and a SHORT STORY about sad gay monks on a vineyard of a ring world (www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0CPX8172R)

It's always vitally important for journalists to ask public figures saying shit like this what they mean and to follow up on it when they clarify because it's nuts

Notable The Times removed a young woman who was featured at the end of the article and in the picture and had not-insane things to say lol
monroetempleton.bsky.social
one of those insane phrases you just hear everywhere that's so ludicrously racist from nearly every angle it makes me feel like I'm going mad hearing it

Tory Conference has been a big few days for people who think anti-immigration ≠ racism

"Reproductive freedom should be sacrosanct" and "we should tax women who refuse to breed" are not in fact mutually compatible statements.
opinionhaver.bsky.social
My most controversial take on this is probably that while I think reproductive freedom should be sacrosanct, I don’t really have any problem with additional taxes on (high income) childless people. Someone gotta pay into the pensions!

"Just one more gimmick bro just one more weird trick trust me trust me we don't need to fund public services and councils and make people feel like there's real change on the micro-level just one boondoddle I swear"

Sometimes I miss being on forums so I log into the like three I still have an account on and immediately bounce back to happiness of just being on like Discord and Blusky

Probably long term but depends on what happens on the council

running the numbers and with Lecornu, since 2017 Macron has now had 7 Prime Ministers, will soon have an eighth, and is likely to have at least another before 2027

Mitterand, who lasted 14 years and oversaw four NA elections, had 7!

"The French Government lasted half a day before collapsing" same

I think the common thread about Ari Astor I like is how much his movies are built around a core hell of familial relationships

That said it does seem like polycules crush your social life outside it after a certain point, though that may be my experience with a guy who was just a dick
monroetempleton.bsky.social
I knew a 7 person polycule (since as I understand reduced to 6) and the common unifier seems to be a social activity they all do

Forgot about the American team and thought there was some cancellation in the ocean fandom

Robot personhood / rights is a sci-fi trope because it’s an obvious way to do a story about prejudice against other humans, but I wonder if it’s created a cultural expectation that this *has* to be a debate once you’ve invented robots you can talk to

I WON'T GO TO MARS (OR DANCE IN STRANGERS' CARS) is a novelette about Isabella, a woman who uses an ability to leap into her parallel selves, which she uses to escape the pain of a breakup - but how can we really be ourselves if we don't live with our mistakes?

My oft go-to was that the Craig Bond should have been much more of a bisexual guy in Chelsea who is really into avocado on toast and matcha with strong opinions on the EU (so, Agent Running in the Field)
