Hey! This is what I just had surgery for this past June! My life has done a complete 180 post op and I want to SCREAM that they suggested suicide as an alternative because it is TREATABLE WITH SURGERY. I now have ZERO daily pain 6 months later.
A woman in Saskatchewan needs surgery for a parathyroid issue and is being offered MAiD instead.

There’s no one in the province who can perform the procedure and the government won’t pay to send her elsewhere.

This is why disability advocates warn about assisted dying

Sask. woman considers MAID because she can't get needed surgery for rare disease | CBC News
For the past eight years Jolene Van Alstine has suffered from a rare form of parathyroid disease, normocalcemic primary hyperparathryroidism (nPHPT). It causes extreme bone pain.

cold take but evangelicalism is insane because they take religion, remove any mechanism of encounter with God from it, instead worship the book that includes the Psalms, Songs of Songs, and Ecclesiastes, and then act like the whole religion is about being emotionally dishonest and sexually repressed

Samir Zitouni and Ahmed al Ahmed are examples of the kind of selfless heroism humans can display in a crisis.

Whilst the likes of Trump, Farage, etc want you scared of the world, instead look to the likes of the aforementioned for the kindness it actually generates. Take heart from their examples.

I remember, they had an app that just streamed Naruto Shippuden. I used it to watch that when I was out and only had my
iTouch.

Furthermore, I believe Crunchyroll must be destroyed.
well might as well watch this promo video from 14 years ago and, oh, oops!

i have a bit more follow-up coming but i think my favourite thing about this leaflet is the elaboration on threat modeling for PLC
Wrote my first leaflet! This is about the threat-model of PLC & the current work we're doing to address that including making the directory more auditable

WHICH MESSAGE WILL RESONATE WITH DEMOCRATIC PRIMARY VOTERS?

"Better angels of our nature"

OR

"Behold, the day of the Lord comes, cruel, with wrath and fierce anger... I will punish the wicked for their iniquity; I will put an end to the pomp of the arrogant, and lay low the pomp of the ruthless."
Once again, for 2028 I'm a single issue voter and that issue is post-Trump lustration. GTFO with "better angels of our nature" for once.
They're using the confinement box, one of the most horrific methods of CIA torture in the post-9/11 black sites, against migrants now. This is the direct result of the lack of consequences for the architects of the torture program. Either there will be criminal penalties for this or it will expand.

The Bonfire team have met their first “maintenance” fundraising goal. The next stretch goal is designing and shipping federated groups.

There is lots of good writing in this post about the needs of different types of groups.

I love checking the backlinks to my account and seeing the random people that have me blocked. I’m not on any block lists, so they had to have been manual, and I’ve never interacted with these people. It’s really funny.

Suletta Mercury is her parish’s Sunday school teacher and sometimes serves as an acolyte or verger during weekday Mass. Miorine serves her parish as a chalice bearer pretty often and sometimes leads the Evensong service.
