Bringing the latest leg of his Got Back Tour to a close at his first local appearance in eight years, Paul McCartney presided over a joyful celebration that inspired, uplifted and unified, writes music critic Bob Gendron.
Review: Paul McCartney is still a legend, his songs bringing a Chicago audience together
The former Beatle led a concert of songs you know by heart, his pitch still unassailable, sharing the warmth and happiness that they bring.

Pie is my favorite dessert, but I'd never think of ranking different flavors. Indeed, the variety of types of pie means that everyone can have different favorites. The fact my faves are French Silk, Blueberry, and Cherry in no way means that (insert your favorite flavor) isn't also delicious.

Saw a nifty triple bill at the Empty Bottle last night. Toronto’s Cootie Catcher, then Auckland’s Phoebe Rings, and, from Indianapolis, Good Flying Birds.

Arguably the second biggest reggae star out of Jamaica. He had international success before Bob Marley, and put out so many great records, including Rebirth, his 2012 LP produced by Rancid's Tim Armstrong. Such a great singer.

Terrible blitz call by Dennis Allen. You have a depleted secondary and a QB who is reluctant to throw downfield. If you don't get to the house, he has an open receiver. #Bears #Steelers

Hey Trib -- he's no longer Prince Andrew.
Pressure is increasing for the former Prince Andrew to give evidence to a U.S. congressional committee investigating the convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein after Britain’s prime minister suggested he should testify.

Have I ever listened to Hey Jude by The Beatles? Absolutely not. It's addressed to Jude, not me. What about Annie's Song by John Denver? Nope. Not my song so none of my business. Everyone should treat the private communications of musicians with the same level of respect as I do.

Beyond all of the other undemocratic aspects of the Trump administration, these type of actions undermine the notion of even having a federal government if it can't provide for the states whose taxpayers are refused services for arbitrary reasons.
“.. the first time any president since at least 2007 .. has refused to help residents recover from such extensive damage to their homes, federal records show.”

Excellent interview with @mikiberenyi.bsky.social, who explains how touring for foreign bands in the U.S. is untenable (while noting the good parts). So glad I got to see the MB Trio the past two tours here in Chicago (with Gina Birch the second time!).

One of the thrills of watching the @nba.com on @amazonprime.bsky.social is having the feed stop and telling you that you have to do something to watch the rest of the game. I'm watching Prime via cable TV and never have something to select. Total bullshit, particular for something I'm paying for.

Nope. Their season is over. No team that has lost a game to another high-ranked team in November has ever gone on to accomplish anything in March.
After No. 8 Illinois lost 90-86 to No. 11 Alabama at the United Center, some of their flaws were exposed.

“We have to understand how not to lose,” coach Brad Underwood said.

Can they still make some noise in March?

every trans murder is a policy consequence

and the bodies keep piling up as the elected officials who today tell us they care about us — ALL of them. — still label the hate against us as a “distraction”

sorry, the funeral i went to last week was not a distraction

theres no coming back from this without prosecuting everyone up and down the chain of command
They lied about it. All of it. A thug cop shot an unarmed woman five times without justification, boasted about it to his colleagues, and then this administration tried cover it all up by arresting her and charging her with felonies.
Absolutely incredible; after shooting Marimar Martinez 5 times and arresting her on claims that she rammed them and pulled a gun, prosecutors have now moved to dismiss ALL criminal charges against her and her codefendant.

I'm perplexed that the article takes its title from a lyric from a song from the classic Scraping Foetus Off The Wheel LP Hole, but doesn't even discuss the album in the article itself.
