Das Debanking von linksradikalen Organisationen und die Einreiseverbote gegen @hateaid.org sind zwei Seiten derselben Medaille. Wenn Europa und Deutschland es mit Souveränität ernst meinen, dann müssen sie jetzt klar Stellung beziehen und dieses Vorgehen in die Schranken weisen.

State Departement unter Marco Rubio uns, HateAid Geschäftsführerinnen Josephine Ballon und Anna-Lena von Hodenberg, zu Personae non Gratae erklärt. Es begann damit, dass Josephines ESTA-Visum widerrufen wurde und mündete dann in der u.a. Ankündigung des State Department. Soweit wir das bisher überblicken können, bedeutet das, dass wir und ggf. auch unsere Familien nicht mehr in die USA einreisen dürfen. Unsere Organisation HateAid, die sich für Menschenrechte im digitalen Raum einsetzt, wird als "radical activists" and "weaponized organisation" eingestuft. Wir müssen nun befürchten, dass wir von US Dienstanbietern gesperrt und blockiert werden. Neben der massiven Einschüchterung, die dieser Schritt mit sich bringt, wird hier die Grundlage gelegt, unsere Arbeit unmöglich zu machen. Das ist der Stand. Wir wollen hier klar sagen: Wir lassen uns von einer Regierung nicht einschüchtern, die Zensurvorwürfe instrumentalisiert, um diejenigen, die sich für Menschenrechte und Meinungsfreiheit einsetzen, mundtot zu machen. Trotz der enormen Belastungen und Einschränkungen, die die Maßnahmen der US-Regierung für uns und unsere Familien bedeuten, werden wir unsere Arbeit mit aller Kraft fortsetzen - jetzt mehr denn je. Es ist ein Akt der Repression einer Administration, die zunehmend Rechtstaatlichkeit missachtet und versucht, ihre Kritiker mit aller Härte zum Schweigen zu bringen. Und wofür? Weil wir uns für dafür einsetzen, dass Online-Plattformen Verantwortung übernehmen. Weil wir uns dort für Datenzugänge für die Wissenschaft einsetzen. Weil wir vor der zunehmenden Manipulation von sozialen Medien durch rechtsradikale Gruppen warnen. Weil wir finden, dass Kinder- und Jugendliche ein Recht darauf haben, keine Gewalt im Netz erleben zu müssen. Wir fordern von der Bundesregierung Friedrich Merz Lars Klingbeil und der europäischen Kommission Ursula von der Leyen ein klares Signal, dass das nicht hinnehmbar ist. Denn wenn das unbeantwortet bleibt, dann wird sich keine zivilgesellschaftliche Organisation, kein*e Politiker*in und erst recht keine Einzelperson in der Zukunft trauen, Missstande bei US-Tech-Konzernen anzuprangern. Und europäische Gesetze sind dann nicht mehr das Papier wert, auf dem sie geschrieben wurden. Übrigens: Auch der ehem. EU Kommissar Thierry Breton, Imran Ahmed von Center for Countering Digital Hate und Clare M. vom The Global Disinformation Index sind betroffen. Wir solidarisieren uns mit Ihnen und den vielen mehr, die nun befürchten müssen, ebenfalls mit Maßnahmen überzogen zu werden. Danke an Alle, die uns auch schon heute mitten in der Nacht zum Heiligen Abend geschrieben haben. Wir brauchen Euch jetzt an unserer Seite. Bitte teilt diesen Post. The CEOs of those major retailers were paid a collective $1.3 billion.

Meanwhile, the average worker at those stores was paid less than $32,000 in 2024.

Very interesting developments here. Pence + allies are moving to topple Heritage as the right's core think tank. That Heritage staffers wanted to join Pence, who bucked Trump on J6, but ostensibly over Kevin Roberts' embrace of Tucker Carlson, is not nothing. They're planning for post-Trump.
Art Pope, a longtime prominent donor in North Carolina, said he had stopped giving to the Heritage Foundation because he saw the group supporting populist economic policies in recent years. He is now giving to AAF, he said, in a bid to move the party in a different direction. “President Trump’s term is coming to an end. The Republican Party is not going to see really a primary among candidates but a primary on principles and fundamental policies,” he said. The plan to boost Pence’s group was carried out in recent weeks by Tim Chapman, the leader of AAF, and Marc Short, Pence’s longtime chief of staff, among others. Chapman is a former Heritage chief of staff. Chapman said that several executives from Heritage approached after the Roberts video and asked if they would be willing to hire them. Malcolm said some of the staffers leaving were coordinating with one another. “It was a moment of opportunity we didn’t necessarily see coming three months ago. It supercharges our capacity on a whole number of fronts,” Chapman said. AAF said it was able to raise more than $10 million in a few weeks to make the new hires.

News Team, Thank you for the notes and texts. I apologize for not reaching out earlier. I learned on Saturday that Bari Weiss spiked our story, INSIDE CECOT, which was supposed to air tonight. We (Ori and I) asked for a call to discuss her decision. She did not afford us that courtesy/opportunity. Our story was screened five times and cleared by both CBS attorneys and Standards and Practices. It is factually correct. In my view, pulling it now-after every rigorous internal check has been met is not an editorial decision, it is a political one. We requested responses to questions and/or interviews with DHS, the White House, and the State Department. Government silence is a statement, not a VETO. Their refusal to be interviewed is a tactical maneuver designed to kill the story. If the administration's refusal to participate becomes a valid reason to spike a story, we have effectively handed them a "kill switch" for any reporting they find inconvenient. If the standard for airing a story becomes "the government must agree to be interviewed," then the government effectively gains control over the 60 Minutes broadcast. We go from an investigative powerhouse to a stenographer for the state. These men risked their lives to speak with us. We have a moral and professional obligation to the sources who entrusted us with their stories. Abandoning them now is a betrayal of the most basic tenet of journalism: giving voice to the voiceless. CBS spiked the Jeffrey Wigand interview due to legal concerns, nearly destroying the credibility of this broadcast. It took years to recover from that "low point." By pulling this story to shield an administration, we are repeating that history, but for political optics rather than legal ones. We have been promoting this story on social media for days. Our viewers are expecting it. When it fails to air without a credible explanation, the public will correctly identify this as corporate censorship. We are trading 50 years of "Gold Standard" reputation for a single week of political quiet. I care too much about this broadcast to watch it be dismantled without a fight. Sharyn
