This was just me making this comparison yesterday, but today the Korean news is calling Minnesota "America's Gwangju" and have human rights lawyers explaining how America is now living through the dictatorship Korea once had.
The Chun regime that my wife fought against in the 80s did the exact same thing. They needed a "crisis" that "only they could solve" to hoard more ill-gotten power, so they chose one city (Gwangju), declared its inhabitants enemies, sent trucks full of soldiers to violently attack and kill them.

The Oscar nomination is a good excuse to reiterate my highest possible recommendation for The Alabama Solution. The horrors of ICE are downstream of the plantation caste system that continues to plague my home state, as well as most of this country.

the top democrats aren't refusing to take a strong stance against ICE out of cowardice; they like ICE and the things it does and they want it to be there when they win the next election so they can use it. if they ever budge on this it will be because they were forced
