So much going on with this astroturfed PR campaign against a fee to payment servicers. Like why the NYS Thruway offers a 20% discount to companies that pay more than $3000 in tolls a month, shifting the cost to those who put the least wear and tear on the road!

"Drivers and pedestrians said they typically broke laws to save time. Cyclists, however, said they typically broke laws to stay safe."

ridiculously true. at no point on my bike do i think about The Law. i think about safety

NYCDOT embargoes a lot of work that results in lane closures during the holiday period...perhaps MTA should do the same on these busy weekends.

Especially as the MTA still struggles to grow ridership, these are the perfect times to show people how good mass transit can be when it works right.

@capntransit.bsky.social has been saying for years that transportation modes compete with each other, and driving always wins when all are treated equally.
@ianwalker.bsky.social comments “The implication is that there has to be action to disrupt, or add friction to, existing car journeys if we want to unlock the benefits of providing alternatives.”
Improving cycle infrastructure and public transport has little impact on car use, a new review finds.

If our region's transit systems weren't run by a bunch of bozos, we could have had a single regional fare payment system & then just put turnstiles at all entrances
