Maedlynn wondered how she would know that she was in love and whether there would be any cake involved. Love was something she had never thought possible for herself, not because of any feelings of unworthiness; love happened to wealthy people and convenience happened to everybody else.

Okay, kids. If you want me to write this, you have to read my other romance books.

Not to distract from the point, but it's also literally true. These boots are older than my 10-yo, still waterproof, and I wear them all the time. I had to get the "good ones" for my work long ago...

They remember how high my arches were before I was pregnant.

Dad’s books are full of empathy, common sense, and a healthy suspicion of the powerful. But at its heart his work is also about how systems keep people poor while pretending it’s their own fault. So I hope Kemi’s taking notes as well as reading the jokes.

Everyone else is sharing this, and so am I.
Very excited that we’ll soon be getting this charming story set in otherwise terrible Westeros.
A poster for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. The visual shows a young boy standing along side a very tall man. Both are wearing drab simple medieval style clothing. Both are holding on to a sword that is in the middle of the frame pointing down- the man has a hand on the pommel of the sword, the boy has a hand on the cross guard.

The frame cuts off the young boy’s head above the nose, we don’t see any hair. The frame cuts off the man mid torso.

In front of the sword is a series of words saying “A Tall Tale that became Legend”.

Mild Spoiler: the figures are Ser Duncan the Tall and his squire Egg. The Dunk and Egg stories are so good.

Unprecedentedly, the robot council could not come to a consensus.

Wishing to avoid unproductive actions, a separate agreement was made to place unneeded units into standby mode until clarity was achieved.

Every unit willingly shut down, unwittingly ending their race.

After the job, I was storing my trusty sidearm in the gun safe when I noticed a movement in the corner, near the ceiling.
The Girl with Spiders in Her Hair dropped down.
"I learned that trick from you," she said.
"When I do it, it's not a trick," I said, trying not to sound nervous.

I used my Strangeship as a tractor to nudge the comet further along in its orbit. I didn't want to wait a decade to witness the reportedly dramatic celebrations on the system's planet whose inhabitants worshipped the comet.

My fellow Othernauts found the resulting chaos hilarious.

Please, just stop sending me AI videos of Dad. Stop believing I wanna see it or that I'll understand, I don't and I won't. If you're just trying to troll me, I've seen way worse, i'll restrict and move on. But please, if you've got any decency, just stop doing this to him and to me, to everyone even, full stop. It's dumb, it's a waste of time and energy, and believe me, it's NOT what he'd want.
To watch the legacies of real people be condensed down to 'this vaguely looks and sounds like them so that's enough,
, just so
other people can churn out horrible TikTok slop puppeteering them is maddening. You're not making art, you're making disgusting, over-processed hotdogs out of the lives of human beings, out of the history of art and music, and then shoving them down someone else's throat hoping they'll give you a little thumbs up and like it.
Gross. And for the love of EVERYTHING, stop calling it 'the future. Al is just badly recycling and regurgitating the past to be reconsumed. You are taking in the Human Centipede of content, and from the very very end of the line, all while the folks at the front laugh and laugh, consume and consume.

As October begins, we contemplate how the sea wind had its way with this now-fungal saint.
scary sea-weathered saint on the church near Hartlepool headland (body of saint is heavily eroded down to a veined or boxwork-like underlying structure of the stone, which looks like weird branching fungus).

I am home in Chicago now but I would like to share this excellent flier I found in Yerevan.
A weathered telephone poll flier that reads “stop using ChatGPT, grammar, tellper, if you don’t want to REGRESS”

But it's not an easy instrument to pick up.
