Random jokes, opinions, dry sarcasm, etc. Strong thoughts about The Cardigans. My views are my own. He/him. Waterloo, ON
Even though I haven't been able to add to this tradition in years, I still celebrate it. I wish everyone a Merry Xmas and a Happy Warm Soda! #warmsoda #worsttraditionever www.flickr.com/photos/mutan...

More of this kind of rich person, please.
It’s the “season of love and giving”…but this year, doesn’t it seem more like a “season of fear and taking”? Like many of you, I’ve been saddened by the human impact of draconian government budget cuts and how angry many housed Americans are at unhoused Americans.

What idiot called the long proper version of "Kill Bill" "The Whole Bloody Affair" and not "Killiam William"?

I saw Grindhouse in a full raucous theatre on opening weekend, and I know I can never re-create that. Otherwise, @jessicabsays.bsky.social yelling "It's funny 'cause it's true!" out loud during Juno when she calls Sonic Youth just noise was pretty great, even if I like Sonic Youth.
Raising the always fun question: What are your most memorable theater-going experiences?

Mine also include The Matrix, Blair Witch, and being way too stoned in Belgium when Fellowship of the Ring was sold out so we sat in the back row for Mulholland Drive instead.
It was hands-down one of the most memorable theater-going experiences I can remember, a collective 30-minute butt-clench/armrest-grab for the final climb. And we knew he lived! Wild.

you could make a lot of people very angry with the true statement that the brothers chaps had a relatively equal effect on the evolution of language as shakespeare did
was this how people in England in the 1600s talked about Shakespeare

Every dollar JK Rowling makes from Harry Potter is going into bankrolling an extortion racket issuing legal threats to organizations across the UK to purge themselves of trans people or face ruinous lawfare.
i hope every single person who still buys harry potter merch or engages with that franchise is happy that they're literally making girl guides cry

girl guides uk have been forced very much against their will to exclude trans girls. full statement is here: www.girlguiding.org.uk/information-...

I went to a Detroit Lions Thanksgiving day game once and had to watch Kid Rock for the halftime show. This would have been much better.

This is exquisite bullshit from Google because turning it off also disables inbox tabs, so every junk email you would automatically file away in Promotions or Updates now makes your phone buzz.
If you use GMail, AI (Gemini) was turned on yesterday by default and now scans all of your content for machine learning. To turn off, go to Settings>General and scroll down. Uncheck the box for "Smart features."

There's other "Smart" add-ons as well, but that's the one that reads your content.

From a kayfabe perspective, I feel like leaving the ring in a Blood and Guts / War Games match should be considered surrendering.

Today is a good day to remember, and to say, that the #MeToo movement was right, and was righteous, and has been vindicated over and over again. There was no overreach. There was no excess. There was no they-went-too-far.

So much work remains to be done.

In 2013 I was on vacation in Mexico and told someone I agreed with them that Obamacare was bad, because they should have gone single payer like I'm used to in Canada. They responded by saying "yeah, but you don't have as many Black people up there, do you?"
"Why don't people support welfare programs?"

Racism. More specifically, anti-Blackness.

White folks asked about who welfare serves overestimate the number of Black people on welfare. Not only that, but just the mere THOUGHT of who welfare supports led less white people to support it. #blacksky

Farewell sweet Prince
Eric Adams is amazing because when he won every media person was leaping over each to go “this is the normal sane leadership that the political left doesn’t understand normal sane Americans crave” and then every day since that Eric Adams has been like “Leprechauns are real and I’m going to cook one”

I don't understand how the Sportsnet+ ad insertion technology works, but sometimes it knows enough to show me ads for my medium size Canadian city, and other times it shows me ads in French, a language I have not studied for nearly 30 years.

Can the Jays somehow run a salmon race for the people watching at the Skydome and let Humpy win so we can go to sleep?
