TIL about a memorial ceremony in Iceland in 2019 to mark the end of a glacier, changing the place name from Okjökull to Ok (jökull = glacier). Uncompromising wording on the bronze plaque:
"This is to acknowledge that we know what is happening and what needs to be done. Only you know if we did it".

Several weeks ago my favorite Ikea Poang chair gave up the ghost, after about 20 years -- the laminated bent wood exploded into its component layers on the left side. But I have a wood shop, and so the chair has been resurrected!

The thing to understand about "age verification" laws is that they are not just for kids
The only way to "stop kids from doing xyz online" using age-gating is to demand a government ID (or invasive biometric face scan) from EVERYONE.

Looks like about an 2 inches of snow so far, here in Chicago's west suburbs, and no sign of slowing down, in fact the flakes are getting bigger. Very little snowplow activity here so far, they must be concentrating on the arterial roads.

What I don't understand is why Democrats are not painting the CR without extending the healthcare tax credits as Republicans pushing for a tax increase. Republicans never want to be associated with tax increases...
