Not only that it came less than a minute after focusing on a child with her mother. Steam has notably denied NSFW vns in the past because there was a child as part of the cast unrelated to any NSFW material. If you're big enough and not anime the kid can be standing 5 feet away from an orgy I guess

It’s not Larian’s fault but it chaps my ass that because they’re Larian they can have a trailer with a full on orgy in it in the middle of the Game Awards and meanwhile adult content in games everywhere else is getting cracked down on left and right.

The Sessler Index sounds fun. I threw this together before I went to bed last night. It's far from perfect and will need a lot of feedback though.
THE SESSLER INDEX: The Sessler Index is rating scale used to judge the xenophobia of a person towards Japanese media (particularly anime and Japanese video games). It is named after former TechTV and G4 personality, Adam Sessler, who is notorious for his open disdain towards Japanese games not only in his time as a co-host of game review show X-Play, but in more recent times on social media as well. Level 9: Just a straight-up open racist and generally bad person who wouldn't be caught dead with any media made in Japan, even if it's heavily western-inspired. Bring up anime around them, and they turn into a walking World War II propaganda cartoon. Level 8: Overwhelming xenophobia. They wouldn't watch any anime at all, except maybe ones with western-passing art, but even that's not a guarantee. Same goes for Japanese games. Slurs might be on the tip of their tongue when they see anime, but they don't commit to saying it out loud. Level 7: Very heavy xenophobia. At most, they might tolerate anime considered to be “classics,” but even then they'd prefer to watch something else. They might consider playing a Japanese game, but still turn in disgust if it has an anime art style, regardless of what its gameplay is. Level 6: Heavy xenophobia. They're open to watching Studio Ghibli movies, but they otherwise look upon the vast majority of anime with disdain, assuming all of it is “fanservice.” The only Japanese games they play are Nintendo properties (except Xenoblade), and they have a very obnoxious and performative hate of JRPGs, especially ones they haven't played. Level 5: Moderate-heavy xenophobia. High enough to be obvious to others, but low enough to pretend they're not xenophobic. They'll watch anime considered to be “classics,” but going a single step beyond that is out of the question. They pretend to enjoy Japanese games, but really only play the most westernized franchises and won't give a chance to anything else. They want every JRPG to be Final Fantasy because that's the only one they can stomach. Level 4: Moderate xenophobia. They'll watch specific accessible anime, but still assume the worst from anything slightly obscure or “weird”-looking. They'll play certain Japanese games without much complaint, but only if they keep their “Japaneseness” to a controlled minimum. Probably a middle-aged man who's been left behind by the evolving space or could never get deep into the hobby in the first place. Level 3: Light-moderate xenophobia. They watch a fair amount of current day anime, but they hold deep reluctance towards anything that seems too “out there,” which, in their eyes, is most things. Same applies to Japanese video games. They can get over some of their hesitation with the right pitch, but it'll be an uphill climb and its effect is limited. Level 2: Light and probably unwitting xenophobia. They enjoy and readily view any popular and trending anime and older classics, but anything more niche will take some convincing. They don't necessarily shy away from Japanese games either, but just like their taste with anime, obscurity is initially off-putting because of preconceptions. Level 1: No notably strange behavior at the recommendation or presence of anime and Japanese video games. They hold no instinctive negative assumptions towards Japanese media.

the HORSES affair is a startlingly low bar to cross to see if people actually care about protecting games from censorship of upsetting themes because it's far tamer and has way more moral clarity than a lot of stuff that doesn't get banned. but it's also very clarifying to see who can't cross it

The admission that this game wasted circa 130GB of disc space for no particular reason or benefit is kind of funny because it raises very uncomfortable questions other AAA tier game developers are not brave enough to answer.
