It’s a slow burn Marge. our money is going into low paid and our children in schools/education, EXACTLY the right targets. My 3 kids (38-43) had pay rises (and back pay) above inflation for the first time in 14 years, got help with child care, breakfast clubs and lunches as well as mortgage drops. 👍
Labour MP'S like my own doing great work locally for our communities. Just been to a local meeting he organised to engage the community re the 1.5 million our town received from the Pride in Britain fund for town centre regeneration.
Needed some normality after this week.

Clive Lewis thinks he’s so clever. This is the sort of thing voters are absolutely sick of. He both has a go at Labour for populist policies then smugly points out it’s not popular. How about the government just does what it thinks is right. I think Mahmood is right, the system is broken. So fix it.

This.

For fuck sake will people take 2 minutes to inform themselves before pretending to believe the govt is planning to strip refugees of their assets and jewellery on the sodding beach?
And: "I made it clear that this is not about taking jewellery—wedding rings and so on—off people at the border; that will never happen"

Do I need to go on? It's bloody clear to me.

If anyone keeps repeating the lies, they are doing what the media wants and sharing misinformation.

Net migration now estimated to have fallen from 944,000 to 345,000 in Dec ‘24.

Some projections even suggest David Cameron’s old target of “tens of thousands” could be met. ukandeu.ac.uk/the-coming-c...

My main criticism of yesterday’s speech by Shabana Mahmood is: Where was Keir Starmer? It was a huge moment, he should have been on the front bench showing his support, because now I’m left wondering if he supports it at all?!

Very good from Shabana Mahmood who is the best Home Secretary for a long time, because she gets where most of the public are whether we all like it or not. They’re there to represent us and this is the biggest issue right now. news.sky.com/video/home-s...
Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood uses expletive during debate on asylum reforms
The home secretary has given a passionate and personal response to the Liberal Democrats, who accused her of using language that "stokes division".

Those who say this policy tries to out reform-reform, can anyone please explain where legal and safe routes were proposed by Reform?

This policy is about fairness. And with fairness, there are trade offs.

You can't pretend the issue doesn't exist. It isn't serious politics.

Looks like no one told him that elves aren’t real. Bless.

People: “Labour are turning into Reform this is not Labour”

Labour: James Callaghan, speaking on immigration in 1978:

“We must say to people: we have accepted a lot of immigrants in this country in recent years. We must now make it clear that we cannot accept unlimited numbers.”

Bluesky today awash with people squeamish at Labour dealing with the illegal trade in people. This is why Reform are winning. If you don’t live in an area being torn apart by the illegal trade in people then sit this one out until you get it. I live here, its horrendous news.sky.com/story/sky-ne...

I’m 100% on Shabana Mahmoods side. I live in a town overrun by gangs exploiting asylum seekers and our high street businesses. This model has to be stopped. That isn’t stopping us providing asylum it’s stopping the pull factors that allow gang leaders to exploit asylum news.sky.com/story/sky-ne...

Not the first to make this point. But there is a tyrant in charge of another country who is accused of being heavily linked to a paedophile sex ring - and supposed ‘patriots’ in this country are passionately willing him to take down our national broadcaster. Madness.

“I was clearly mocking you”
Men on the internet thinking they sound clever. 🙄🤣
I was clearly mocking you.

Greed is when you set up a company during a pandemic to profit from the provision of faulty PPE to the NHS.

Greed is when you knowingly take a bounce back loan with no intention of repayment.

You are putting doctors in the same category. And I’m in a fantasy world?

Wes being brilliant on LBC this morning. 😁
'Don't tell me you don't want to be out on strike - because that is exactly where you are. Own it.'

As resident doctors walk out again, Wes Streeting calls out the 'reprehensible and cartel-like behaviour' of their union.

This is my town. People are appalled at seeing the trade in people, drugs etc in plain sight. Something has to change. The pull factors that mean traffickers can sell this idea of a job and a place to live here has to stop. news.sky.com/story/sky-ne...

This.
I've been a member of Labour for 20 years- with a gap when Corbyn was in power - and I've been broadly supportive of the government but I'm sorry if you think it's disloyal or I'm being 'hoodwinked' by the msm when I criticse obvious failings in the government you need to give your head a wobble

Was any of last nights briefing from Number 10 done with the public in mind? Hard to think of a more perfect example of why so many people are now thinking, whatever the risks we may as well roll the dice on Reform/the Greens/someone else because it’s perma chaos as it is.

Apart from some people here I don’t know a single person who thinks Starmer is doing a good job. That’s not my opinion but it is my reflection on how people are feeling. I fear the budget will make it worse. Dropping the 2 child limit and raising taxes are both unpopular. What’s the positive story?
I support Sir Keir Starmer.

He is our PM and must remain as PM.

This speculation about his future needs to stop.

The media have it in for him and he is actually doing a bloody good job.

Absolutely disgusted to hear about the racism Wes Streeting mentions here directed at school children who were visiting Parliament.

He has taken the post down, rightly, to protect the children.

But it's wrong that he had to do it.

Disgusted with so many people in our country. Racism is never OK.

The right are trying to bring down the BBC in plain sight. It’s obvious for all to see. Yet if you say that out loud you get “are you saying it was ok to edit Trump like that?” Well ya know what Yes that IS what I’m saying. Trump DID incite a riot and although clumsy editing the meaning is the same.

My tip as a Londoner. Shrug and carry on.
