It must be fun to do research, share findings and have half of the internet explain why these findings are wrong because they differ from their beliefs. Fortunately, I think Labour are being strategic and not letting tactical setbacks change their strategy.
A focus group quote that stuck with me from a disappointed Lab voter was along lines:

"Why are they (Labour) picking on Pensioners (WFA), farmers (IHT), small businesses (NICS), these groups who can't fight back?"

Telling 2 of those 3 have been significantly watered down now

Relatively few people suggesting that Trump's real intention, with the Venezuela attacks, is actually just a mega diversion from Epstein. It's classic bully behaviour; find a weak, unpopular target that you can publicly attack for your own benefit.

How Ukraine turned initial humiliation in the Black Sea into a humiliation for Russia. Their fleet confined to port and, even there, they are not safe. It's a situation built for watery idioms, are they sitting ducks or fish in a barrel? youtu.be/LaFAVb9A7e8?...

Enshittification - the word you can't avoid as Doctorow does his media blitz. He's not wrong though. It seems that no company's positioning as consumer champion survives scrutiny once they get large. But it was ever thus, it's why competition and antitrust laws exist.

I don't want to be one of those boring men but... I tried a Merano wool t-shirt and it's bloody remarkable how it doesn't stink after wearing. That's a magic technology that could massively reduce laundry. Also explains how people in the past probably weren't as smelly as we imagine.

When you're looking into housebuilding in the UK, pondering what housebuilders are doing to reduce labour etc. Then realise we are so in love with brick that we are irrationally clinging to it way beyond what is sensible.

Oh man. So many thoughts. Definitely a problem here. Quite possibly not society or health care though. Something about modern work culture is definitely off too.

The AA 'panel of insurers' have worked incredibly hard this year and managed to come up with a renewal 40% more expensive. Meanwhile, all my other comparison quotes are 10% cheaper.

While I do feel a bit bad for people who had houses backing on to fields, I really don't think they get to block housebuilding or development on land they don't own. People need places to live and sometimes that means that what was the edge is no longer the edge.

2025 is, I think, the year that many more professionals realised AI is making huge swathes of their knowledge and skill accessible to everyone. This is across a ludicrous number of domains. What is left (for now) is experience, judgement and managing the transition.

I do suspect ultra-strict will come to a head over things like this. Removing disruptive pupils to another space is clearly part of maintaining order. However, there are definitely places over-using it and making some kid's lives chronically miserable *without* actually achieving anything.

Nonsense, it's easy to tell. Just use the hat system: Top hat = upper, bowler hat = middle, flat cap = lower
The answer to this question is that British people could discuss this question till the end of time and not be done.
Could someone explain to me what is meant when a British person refers to "the middle class" ? Like, in the US, as I hear it, it basically just means a person who makes a certain amount of money, not too far below and not wildly above the median. Seems like a complex concept when UK writers use it?

It's incredibly fucking dumb that the BBC DG has quit because of some bullshit non issue. I really hate that the stupidity from the US impacts politics and public life over here. I hope our politicians learn the lesson that the US is not a good friend.
