Tim Walz: “This federal occupation of Minnesota long ago stopped being a matter of immigration enforcement. It's a campaign of organised brutality against the people of our state…today, that campaign claimed another life ... It's sickening."

There is a beautiful mural on the side of the building where my son's birth was registered, commemorating the "Battle of Cable Street."

Find myself thinking about it recently much more than I would like.

These barbarians are destroying everything that makes society work. Kids can't go to school, patients can't go to the hospital. We are, in effect, paying them to wreck the basic infrastructure of the country

Since Stephen Miller is in the midst of another of his Aryans-only trantrums, we should note that his family are 20th century immigrants from the shtetl of Antopol (Антопаль) then in the Hrodna gubernia of Russia. Applying his immigration rules, they would all have perished in the Holocaust.

If my nephew’s ideas on immigration had been in force a century ago, our family would have been wiped out.

CSWEP strongly condemns Larry Summers’ behavior as revealed in the email correspondence with the late Jeffrey Epstein. While abuse of power in the economics profession is not new, rarely has the intent behind such abuse been so clearly stated.

Lurching, spasmic, incompetent chaos.

An alternative—which would be better for all Americans—is careful consideration, public debate, and transparency before extreme policy change. That is why we have procedures for legislation and rule-making, and we don't just sledgehammer with proclamations.
