Minneapolis is better in summer

Trial lawyer - just give me a jury to talk to.
What grand jury would indict at this point?
one interesting thing about the Minnesota ICE/CBP deployment: as far as I can tell, there hasn't been a surge of Section 111 charges (for assaulting a federal officer) like we saw in other cities targeted by federal forces. I can only find one case since the MN surge began at the end of December

Everything they say is a lie. Start from first principles.

The wine moms understood who and what Trump was from the start and have been right about him every step of the way. If the country survives, they will be why.
I'm ready to place a bet on "wine moms" getting their own cross tab in the 2026 midterms.
Ladies you “Zumba-ed” too hard!

I always liked Jesse Ventura even when he was MN Gov. My girlfriend at the time hated him. To this day I’m not sure which of us was right.
God damn do I love this guy. I don't agree with all of his views (and he has some...very strange views), but he's earnest, & states things in a way that's hard to argue against if you're clearly in the wrong.
Ex-Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura: “We’re a 3rd world country now. I know. I’ve been to ‘em. I spent 17 months in SE Asia while the draft dodger was playing golf… that’s what happens in a dictatorship. In comes the military. That’s what’s happening here.” 🇺🇸

Fwiw, the protesters are more than a block away from the hotel.
Police give 10-minute warning to disperse: Arrests could start soon for the remaining protesters who are banging drums outside a Minneapolis hotel where ICE agents may be staying.

That’s a conversation that should have happened, and hopefully did, a year ago when DOGE began screwing around with the payment systems. That was always their end game.
at some point we're gonna have to have a real conversation about why we're still paying federal taxes to a regime that isn't using them to help anyone, but instead is using them to brutalize us

The state and/or county should indict anyway.
The state Bureau of Criminal Apprehension says they've been informed by the FBI that US DOJ has said FBI will solely lead the investigation into Renee Nicole Good's killing by a federal officer. State investigators no longer have access to "case materials, scene evidence/investigative interviews"

Riots? You think people care about such things way more than I think they do.
If the DEA had killed 80 innocent Americans in the course of apprehending one drug dealer, there would be riots. But we are so ghoulishly indifferent to the lives and humanity of people abroad that it's barely even part of the conversation.
A reminder that the US killed 80 people in Venezuela, and it would be nice if the US media cared enough to think that the life of a grandmother in Caracas whose building is destroyed by a US bomb matters as much as the life of a person in the US.

Been saying for a year that this was the end game of DOGE screwing around with the Treasury payment systems. Hope the governors, etc. have contingency plans in place that go beyond filing lawsuits.

The really bad response to the GFC in the US and Europe explains an awful lot even though Will is kinda right about social media.

Fwiw, everyone, very much including Chappell Roan, believes tons of toxic, insane shit.
Chappell Roan shares follow-up story after deleting Brigitte Bardot tribute post:

“Holy shit i did not know all that insane shit Ms. Bardot stood for obvs I do not condone this. very disappointing to learn.”

Technically, opinions can’t be wrong whether or not you’re a good person.
My opinions can’t be wrong though because I’m a good person, so if you disagree with me you must be working in tandem with Satan or otherwise in thrall to Him

Butter

Money

Sounds fine tbh.
My second exposure yielded

Friends
Wine
Money

I like that much better
The first 3 words you see will define your 2026.

MONEY
TRAVELS
PIZZA

sounds good to me.

I’ll take the counter on this. ChatGPT synthesizes a vast amount of information about something and distills it into something reasonably short and coherent. If it matters and you dig in, you start finding weaknesses/things wrong pretty fast, but at the right level of abstraction, pretty useful.
Starting your "research" with ChatGPT is like filling the foundations of your house with cotton candy or building your menu around radium.
I just read this line and I am going to SCREAM: "When used as a starting point rather than a substitute for research, [AI] can expand access to knowledge for authors without institutional resources."

EVERYONE KEEPS SAYING IT'S A GOOD STARTING POINT FOR "RESEARCH" BUT IT'S NOT??? IT LIES??

A Pickleball Christmas is apparently a real Lifetime (not Hallmark) movie. I kind of need to watch it.

It’s funny to me that people think extortion could work in the age of gen-AI.

As a longtime fan of both cats and Hallmark Christmas movies, I must admit that Christmas at the Catnip Cafe is shockingly bad.

Quite the honor. Wonder who the betting markets predicted?
A "FIFA Peace Prize" is tantamount to getting an "AutoZone Best Actor in a Dramatic Play" award.

And "I want to really save lives" is rich coming from the homicidal slob who is murdering people on fishing boats in the Caribbean.

Vices should, for the most part, be legal, but a pain in the ass to do.
I have come to the conclusion that all gambling should be made illegal again; or at the very least, must all be conducted in person at bookies.
