I have a new book coming out Step. 23rd! Full description at the link, but my elevator pitch to my writing chat was "what if a guy time travels to the present but he sort of sucks and has to learn how to be a feminist and also he looks like Robb Stark?"

Time For You
No love like the present What happens when a twenty-first-century woman falls for a nineteenth-century man? It’s up to destiny in a witty, captivating, and totally unexpected time-travel romance. D…

I recognize there are embargoes and spoiler issues you can't quite talk about, but if at all possible...does this season have violence against small children? (Previous seasons have had way more than I could personally handle, I had to leave the room several times)
Vance can live next to her, if he wants

she's fun
Meanwhile, we have a 60-something neighbor who is (like me) a white woman and (like me) a native english speaker. She has called the city on us (for "having too many weeds in our boulevard" and for "replacing a fence") and has also, on occasion, *deliberately kicked over our trash cans*
Vance says it is "totally reasonable and acceptable" for people to not want to live next door to people who speak a different language than they do

I am not an influencer, but please help me boost Palestinian-owned Nabiha cafe on U street near 17th in DC. The coffee is AMAZING, staff is super friendly, links to donate to Gazan families are easily accessible for customers who want to help
I'm going to tag @clairewillett.bsky.social because she has a bigger platform than me and this sort of thing is definitely her jam

(next time I'm in DC I'm definitely going here, I need coffee that is basically rocket fuel like this)

Time to resurrect one of my favorite things Over Here: let me know about a book you either have out now or one that's up for folks to preorder, and I'll repost to boost it! 📚💜
Time For You just came out! Perfectionist first year ER resident accidentally runs down a guy with her bike only for him to say he's *actually* from Scotland in 1885. Then he gets to learn about feminism via Clueless and is very impressed by the measles vaccine.

I'll be honest, "discrepancies" is reallllllllly soft pedaling a massive fuck up here

i think i would honestly find this whole discourse more tolerable if people simply said what they were actually saying, which is that they think the Democratic Party is too associated with femininity (and secondarily, with black people) and that they want to correct this
I've been noticing Christmas stuff out at some places since two weeks ago, and my hulu commercials are also starting to lean that way
I ran high school cross country against Naperville and they (circa 2001) had a stick with a baby doll head dangling from it as their good luck charm. This indicates nothing about them generally (teenagers are weird) but 20+ years later I hear "Naperville" and think "ah yes, the doll head people"
I share this story a lot, but it was very illuminating in terms of "what do average voters think the president's job is"
In 2016 I door knocked just before e-day & spent 30 mins with a possible-dem voter whose concerns were, in order:

1) Will HRC streamline medical billing
2) Warren Buffett invests in fossil fuels, will he lose $ if we go green
3) what will happen to train cars that carry coal if we stop using it
You don't need a degree in cognitive neuroscience to get this. I started out knocking on doors. I hated it, but even I have to admit I learned a lot about how normal people understand things. For most normal, persuadable, gettable voters, politics is a TV that's on loud in another room.
