Remember how just a few years ago during the worst of the pandemic when we saw how the govt can actually do big things and saw that our collective health & well-being are intertwined, and then corporations got mad that they lost a modicum of power and helped fund a backlash of amnesia and fascism?

If the truth costs us Palestinian journalists our lives, what excuse do you have for refusing to call it by its name?

i keep saying this but what i hate most about the ezra kleins of the world is their insistence is that politics is about messaging and triangulating. its never about offering a compelling vision of the world, its about trying desperately to capitulate to whatever moment we are in

there was a competitive brand of baseball that prioritized fun and fan experience it was called the minor leagues and it was eviscerated to save a dollar
From @theathletic.com: The Savannah Bananas have millions of fans and are seemingly growing at warp speed. Banana Ball is wacky, but it's also a competitive brand of baseball that prioritizes fun and fan experience. MLB can learn from it.
What can MLB learn from the Savannah Bananas? A lot, it turns out

sad @abbe.bsky.social missed the swing-off because (1) she’s the world’s biggest Phils fan and (2) it’s gonna take a solid five minutes to explain

Only thing wrong with the swing-off is there’s reason not to bring back guys who already got taken out.

I think something to bear in mind is that every artist knows that what they create is influenced by the work of others, and they in turn will influence more. It’s reciprocal. “AI art” cannot “pay into” the pool of creativity because it cannot do anything new. It only takes.

You should be able to walk into any big city AMC and watch Hamdan Ballal's Oscar-winning movie but you can't because every American distributor is too afraid of being called anti semitic instead of telling stories exactly like this
BREAKING: Yuval Abraham, co-director of Oscar-winning documentary "No Other Land," says Israeli settlers beat his co-director Hamdan Ballal, injuring his head and stomach — and then Israeli soldiers invaded the ambulance he was in and seized him.

Ballal's whereabouts are now unknown.
