And his gentle way of telling folks that their art journey isn’t about perfection thru the use of “happy accidents” was brilliant. There’s an episode where he starts w a finished painting & scrapes it down to start over that I think is useful for anyone paralyzed in their art bc it’s not “perfect”.

Something I didn’t pick up on until I binged a bunch of episodes in a row is just how much he was focused on providing his viewers with tools & techniques that they could then go on to refine & experiment with on their own to find their own style, which can be a difficult thing to teach. See, but you can absolutely do it! If you follow along, it's like building a Lego set. The thing is Bob had knowledge of color mixing, of nature, and of tools, and he could convey all that in easy steps for laymen.

The performance of it is a whole other thing though. That's real talent.
