Alice Wong taught us that disabled people don’t just leave memories behind—they leave infrastructure. Lineages of care. Methods of collectivity, survival. She named the connective tissue that holds our communities together, even across death, even across the losses that come too fast and too often.

It was reprehensible when people mocked condom usage at the height of the AIDS pandemic.

It is just as depraved to mock those wearing masks to reduce the spread of airborne viruses today.

Whenever someone takes any kind of step to protect public health, they should be applauded, not mocked.

How fitting it is
that the heavily mutated
(and aggressively spreading)
Covid variant BA.3.2
has been nicknamed
"Cicada,"
for what better way
is there to react
to this mutated subvariant
than by wanting
to emulate the humble cicada
by screaming?

Getting sick is not inevitable. There is no benefit to getting sick, despite the capitalist fairy tale that getting sick strengthens your immune system. It does the opposite. There are long term health consequences to contracting most viruses, in fact. Mask, clean the air, vaccinate, wash hands.
"To conclude, air purifiers – even at airflows lower than
recommendation – are efficient in reducing contaminant spreading in an open plan office."

A woman in Saskatchewan needs surgery for a parathyroid issue and is being offered MAiD instead.

There’s no one in the province who can perform the procedure and the government won’t pay to send her elsewhere.

This is why disability advocates warn about assisted dying

Daily Tism just calling me out yet again. 🤣😅
Sabeen Bhatt, 26, has been feeling bloated, cranky and inexplicably miserable over the course of the last week, just like she is every 28 days. After a drawn-out investigation, she was incensed to discover the explanation: the exact same thing it bloody always is.
Period surprises autistic woman for 167th time in a row
The world's most regular period has maliciously snuck up on an autistic woman with absolutely no warning for the 167th month in a row, sources have claimed.  Sabeen Bhatt, 26, has been feeling…

An AuDHD woman would literally rather expire on the spot than have to watch one single second of an unskippable ad, it has been confirmed.  Christine Smout, 46, will reportedly do anything to avoid…

I will be the first to admit I couldn’t understand why anyone would oppose Assisted Dying… and then I became disabled and had it “offered” to me.

It’s not compassionate when there’s coercion.

It’s not dignified when it’s offered in lieu of care.

Listen to disabled people.

As a minister I strongly condemn the odious actions by conservatives in this province.

Invoking the Notwithstanding clause is a curtailment of democracy. But foremost, it advances the American far-right agenda rooted in diminishing trans lives in this province, notably trans youth. #abpoli #ableg
Supported by all UCP members present (36) and independents Pete Guthrie and Scott Sinclair.

💯 And this goes for the ongoing pandemic, the multiple genocides, the ecocides happening world over. The pandemic could have helped us come into healthier relation with the preciousness of life, but we memory holed it, forgot the dead, ostracized the walking wounded
I truly believe part of the path out of where we are as a nation involves actually mourning our dead.
Howard County has lost 544 residents to COVID-19. A new memorial honors them.
