A Gen Z-led advocacy group announced a boycott campaign targeting major corporations “that enable, profit from, or directly collaborate with ICE.” Beyond the Ballot launched “Not With My Dollars: ICE Out of My Wallet” just days before Black Friday kicks off.

I talk about her in my Black abolitionists of NYC walking tour and usually no one has heard of her but she was Rosa Parks on the bus 100 years before that incident.
In 1855 Elizabeth Jennings Graham brought a suit that initiated the desegregation of NYC transit. Raised by politically active parents (her was mother formerly enslaved, her entrepreneur father was awarded a patent in 1821) Ms. Graham was a teacher, organist, & kindergarten founder.

I once asked a bookseller at a large indie store how many people would have to buy a book for it to get the attention of the store buyer and cause an additional order and they said: Three.
I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.

Yeah 😔 I know I’m not worthless, but I also know society sees me as worthless & that has real consequences
sick people should be able to count on social programs for care so we don't have to put ourselves through self-esteem shredding relationships just to get sufficient help

I feel so incredibly worthless today and am questioning why I'm even on this planet, and while part of me knows--

This is another oft-undescribed thing! Often people who have "recovered" still experience PEM, just at much, much higher levels of activity.
Thread.

Even now, when I am 90% back to my pre-Covid baseline, I can experience PEM after going past my now-better (much!) limit. You say, “Hey! If I go past my limit, I am stuck feeling flu-like for two to three days!”, and they don’t listen.
The rationale behind these studies, Seltzer contests, is [that] “it presumes that the patient had never heard of exercise until a doctor told them [it] exists.”

Thanks to Simon Spichak for putting this idea into print. I've said multiple times in interviews that it's the strangest part... 🧵

We are up to 688 LoCITT participants!

If we could enroll all 1,000 participants within a month of launch (by 11/30), it would send a powerful message about the demand for remote Long COVID clinical trials.

We appreciate the community's help to spread the word:

Medical sexism is behind so much of MAHA’s appeal. Doctors don’t know shit about women’s bodies or diseases & anti-medical, anti-vax, woo woo wellness grifters are foaming at the mouth to eat up everyone being harmed by Covid who just found out there’s no help for us within the medical system
Please hear me when I say that

1) these anti-medical woo birth movements have been a primary feeder into anti-vaxx eugenic movements

2) they pre-date the age of social media

3) they exist because we have not addressed medical sexism and specifically obstetric violence
Influencers made millions pushing ‘wild’ births – now the Free Birth Society is linked to baby deaths around the world

There should be infinitely more interest in this medical mystery.

How many doctors can even name the phenomenon described below?

I’ll give a hint: it’s the hallmark of a disease that affects 1.3% of US adults, per CDC. (So docs should know about it!)
