250 years ago, right here at the Old North Bridge, ordinary people faced an extraordinary choice: monarchy or democracy. They could remain subjects of a distant crown – or risk everything for the idea of self-government.

They chose freedom.

INCREDIBLE opinion by Wilkinson refusing to stay Judge Xinis's orders in the Abrego Garcia case, condemning DOJ's arguments as "shocking not only to judges, but to the intuitive sense of liberty that Americans far removed from courthouses still hold dear."

Excellent. Here’s the habeas lawsuit filed in DC for all the men disappeared to CECOT we were waiting for.
JUST IN: @aclu and @democracyfwd ask Boasberg to reimpose nationwide TRO on Alien Enemjes Act deportations. They also want to refile habeas corpus claims in DC for the roughly 130 men deported March 15 despite Boasberg's order to turn planes around. Doc: www.documentcloud.org/documents/25...

I've been in El Salvador all day fighting for the return of Mr. Abrego Garcia.

The Trump Administration can lie all they want, but the Court said they failed to show he was part of MS-13. This is about bringing home a man they ADMIT should never have been abducted. I won't rest until then.

How many people do you think have received threats from Trump, Musk & their goons?

Thousands?

This interview by Rachel Maddow was chilling.

You must watch & share it because our government is being attacked from within!

the mistake would be to demand his return because then Xinis is treading on executive powers. that's what they wanted. what they got is a judicial order to expose a massive scandal.
This is actually really a good use of judicial power, because it's really going to be a heavy lift to get done over two weeks for the government. And the plaintiffs will absolutely get a bunch of decision makers who have been yammering about this on the record during that two weeks.

1/4. On the White House’s theory, if they abduct you, get you on a helicopter, get to international waters, shoot you in the head, and drop your corpse into the ocean, that is legal, because it is the conduct of foreign affairs.

8/ This is a watershed moment, as Trump thumbs his nose at a Supreme Court ruling, gaslighting the public by pretending his won 9-0 when he lost 9-0.

If we normalize this, there's no end. He can lock up or remove anyone. We will no longer exist in a democracy.

El Salvador is a contractor providing the United States with a paid service. The idea that we couldn’t get anyone they’re holding back with the snap of a finger just by asking is so ludicrous on its face, it seems less like a real excuse and more like a test of how much shit the courts will eat.
Pam Bondi: “That’s up to El Salvador if they want to return him…If they wanted to return him, we would facilitate it, meaning provide a plane.”

Nayib Bukele: “How can I return him to the U.S.? Like, I smuggle him into the U.S.?”

No, you put him on the plane the AG just said the US would provide!

These are effectively concentration camps. And Trump has sent hundreds of people there without due process, many of whom have NO CRIMINAL RECORDS.

This is how the Holocaust started. Jews were the "monsters" then. No matter who you are, if you are not speaking out about this you are COMPLICIT.

Also, let's be clear: Having a criminal record also doesn't mean you should be deported to a torture camp in another country and effectively sentenced to death.

Because everybody has basic rights, and because dictatorships will always redefine what "criminality" means.

If the U.S. government is going to take the position that, once removed from the United States, folks can’t be brought back, then it sure seems to me that federal courts should be reflexively and categorically barring *all* removals until they’re 100 percent certain that the removals are lawful.
