I was born in Toowoomba, and the only vowel that locals pronounce is the 'a' - Twmba.

Lived in Melbourne for a bit & still can't get my head around how the suburbs Reservoir (Resa-vore) & Prahran (Pran... I think?) are pronounced.

Ed’s thinking about whales.
Specifically, he’s thinking about that one whale, the one he read that really depressing article about that was being passed around like ten years back, the one that sings at a different frequency than all the others? That one. He wonders what’s up with it now, if it’s still out there—if it ever found another whale to talk to, a little whale buddy. He doesn’t remember if it sang too high or too low for the others, because maybe if it was too high, it could have talked like, dolphins or something? Do dolphins like other creatures? Ed doesn’t fucking know, he’s not a biologist, and his brain’s offering the half-remembered suspicion that dolphins are assholes, so maybe the whale wouldn’t even want to talk to a dolphin even if it could—but Ed’s been alone on Mars for all of two days, and honestly, he’s just about ready to murder someone for the chance to talk to someone, anyone, just for a few minutes. He’d take letting Buttons explain moon crater energy to him. He’d take Frenchie’s theories about astrology—and the dude’s a fucking astronaut, how does he still believe in the energy of the constellations and planets when he’s fucking been to one?—or Izzy’s theories on why Ed’s relationships have all failed. He’d take a dressing down by Jackie, if he could just hear somebody say his name, just once.

Jackie’s browsing jobs on Indeed.com when there’s a knock at the door. She wonders what the hiring manager at the Lego Store at the Galleria would say about her resume. Director of NASA to Sales Associate - Part Time. Couldn’t be worse than this fucking gig.
Geraldo sidles in just as she closes the browser window. She hasn’t slept in 36 hours, and she knows she’s not alone in that. Geraldo’s got that dumb-ass constipated look on his face that he gets when he hasn’t slept in a while. He’s holding his phone like it’s a holy relic.
“What.”

#WIPWednesday Brings a snip from the next part of the Building together series. #OFMD

The inn stood at the center of town, three stories tall and Stede was let in the back and lead up a center of narrow creaking stairs and unenthusiastic walls. The room he was lead into was a stark contrast. It wasn’t opulent, but the furniture was well made, possibly from wood from the island. A fine set of chairs in front of an elegantly carved desk with a taller, cushioned chair behind it made of dark red wood. A fireplace where the mantel had curved and coiled ends like seashells. There were a few paintings but most of the decor seemed to be carvings of fish or turtles or the long lines of an elegant crane, one foot raised as it stared out the window.

Stede was sat in a chair in front of the desk and noticed there had been a face carved in the top center of the other. An interesting sort of face, with black lines painted all over it in curves and whorls. It’s mouth hung open and its tongue stuck out. The most striking thing was the eyes, set with iridescent abalone shells, they seemed to bring to it a kind of life. As if it was always watching. As if it could pounce any moment should Stede get any ideas. Ed would love that kind of thing, Stede thought.

Innman came in a moment later from the other door, looking tired and irritated. Stede noticed something else he should have before. The way Innman’s dark hair, threaded through with white and gray, was bound up in a heavy braid. The same way that Ed had done his own when he’d wanted to be Jeff. Maybe it was a coincidence, but Stede doubted it.

“Well then,” Innman sat heavily in the chair across the desk, two guards, man and woman, flanking him while the other remained at Stede’s back. “Have we learned not to be a complete ass? Are we going to behave ourselves now?”

here’s a little wip wednesday snippet of chapter 10 of jamestown ferry, which is probably coming tonight or possibly tomorrow (with TWO pieces of art!!!)

“I like that you like it when I get off,” he admits, cheeks burning like he’s shy about it, despite the circumstances.

“I love it,” Stede replies with a fond, breathless smile, and Ed has absolutely no doubt that he’s being completely sincere. It makes his stomach flip a little.

He makes quick work of getting his own cock out, almost surprised at how hard he is and how good it feels not to be trapped in his polyester slacks. It’s enough to make him shudder a little as he spits in his own hand under Stede’s heated gaze, knowing he’s watching every tattooed knuckle as he wraps his fingers around himself and moans softly at the first slow stroke.

“There you are, darling,” Stede says quietly, his voice low and smooth and impossibly hot as he trails the back of a finger along Ed’s scruffy jaw and swipes his thumb over his wet lower lip. “Does that feel good?”

A #WIPWednesday post for my #OFMD Kinktober fic! I'm hoping to get a bit of dopamine to push me through to the finish 🙏. Fic is canon-divergent starting from when Stede kissed end in the moonlight, prompt is public/semi public sex 👀

Ed’s eyes had fixed gently to Stede’s face, tracing pathways between eyes down to lips, to side burns, to chin. His expression dropped a little when Stede finished speaking. “That wasn’t a long story at all.”

Torn between saying too much and scaring Ed off, or not saying enough and seeing him sad, Stede floundered. “Well, I…”

Ed interrupted him, achingly gentle. “Well… you wear fine things well.”

Now they were both definitely blushing, and the way Ed looked at him through his thick dark lashes, hesitant and reverent with just an edge of heat, made Stede's heart pound like a drum. A smile curled onto his face and as Ed shifted his shoulders, moving slowly closer, Stede mirrored his movements, the sound of the bell ringing making him practically pant with desire.

When Ed closed the gap, soft warm lips framed in soft scratchy stubble meeting Stede's, cannon fire erupted in his chest, a nameless and hungry part of him grabbing the helm and using momentum to increase speed with haste. Ed parted his lips with a sigh and Stede swept in with his tongue, finally, finally tasting him, finally a part of him inside of Ed, with many more to come. Stede's hand slid into Ed's hair, clutching it and he pulled Ed flush to his body, thoughts disintegrating as he felt Ed's answering hardness pressing against his own. No thoughts no plan nothing except for more more more and mine mine mine…

As suddenly as the kiss had begun, it ended, Ed stepping back and pulling out of Stede's grasp. Stede clenched his fists tight on either side of his body, fighting off the fierce desire to kiss Ed's rosy kiss-swollen lips, to make him pant even harder with kisses to his neck, his clavicle, every inch of perfect tattooed skin.

Breathlessly, Ed looked at Stede with an apology in his eyes, ready for his tongue. “Can we take it slow?”
