The oil companies don’t want it. Oil prices are too low and development too long.

We don’t know what legal justification is being used for this aggression but it’s pretty difficult to believe we’re in imminent danger when the “president” will address us hours after said military strike from his private golf club in Florida so he can get his golfing in.

Great. Now China will invade Taiwan and seize TSMC, cutting off the supply of computer chips and effectively popping the AI bubble-driven stock market. This isn’t going to end well for most of us.

They think Machado will just stroll into the presidential palace & everything will be hunky-dory. That’s theoretically possible, depending on how much support she has among elements of the police & military, as well as how much popular public support shows up in the streets. It’s a crapshoot though.

CORRUPT Rep Maria Elvira Salazar went on Fox Business & accidentally said the quiet part out loud, admitting that one of the real motivations behind a U.S. invasion of Venezuela is that it would be a “field day for big oil” & they would make trillions. ITS ALL ABOUT BIG OIL

The US is now responsible for the governance of Venezuela. Toppling the regime of a smaller country is always the easy part. The hard part is what comes after. Neo-cons always expect a pro-US nirvana. It rarely works out. But I suppose the oil companies can seize some assets.

What do 2009 and 2025 have in common?

2025 was the best year for the FTSE 100 since 2009.

2025 was also the first FULL year under a Labour government since 2009.

Coincidence? Maybe. But it's not as if it's the only data point showing improving trends now we have a Labour government again.

And didn't that end well...a whole generation of young men, extirpated.
There is a weird vibe these days from politicians of the right or centre about fear of losing their manliness because society is getting too soft or something. Reminiscent of late 19th/early 20th century thinkers believing that the young men need a jolly good war to rediscover their manhood.

Unfortunately, this is exactly how the Russians treat life and people - they continue to kill, and this despite all the efforts of the world and primarily the United States in the diplomatic process.

Only Russia does not want this war to end and every day does everything to keep the war going.
