Found this on the AO3 subreddit, and I'm about to let it change my whole life (or at least work really hard to internalize it wrt my writing).
Someone's screenshot of a two-post twitter thread, from user blue (@bluewmist):

the fastest way to kill motivation is to make your identity depend on the outcome. it's called ego involvement. when failing becomes failing as a person, your brain starts avoiding the whole thing. not because you don't care, but because you care too much.

you don't need lower standards. you need less self-worth tangled up in your goals. the work gets easier when it's not about proving who you are.

While writing CASTLE AUTOMATIC for WORM, I've put my approach to dungeon keying to the test.

NPCs are described last in the room's description but first in the details. This is because players *jump* at NPCs and tune out other descriptions. First, set the scene, then say who's in it.
420 - Cathedral Gate Guardians
A colossal door frame inscribed with Vetus text leading to a sanctuary. Two giant nuns flank the doors, their habits surrounding empty voids where their faces should be. Inside, a cathedral lit by flickering candles and filled with the scent of incense.
Giant nuns: Two massive statues stand as Gate Guardians to XX - Outer Sanctuary (p. XX). One nun holds a giant, empty bell, one holds the bell's clapper like a giant mace. They cannot speak, but forbid entry to any not carrying a sacred candle.
> Trying to pass through the door without having either a sacred candle from the Page of Cups or an active heavenfire spell causes the two gate guardians to attack.
Vetus text: "Let the sacred light shine to light the way." Two nun statues, one holding a giant bell and one a giant clapper, flank a door while adventurers climb up giant-sized steps

Always remember that others dont view your art with the familiarity you have with it. There is a weird effect that make you see your art as more boring or ordinary because you are so used to your linework, how you usually draw things, etc. But for others these are exterior to them and feel inspired.

When you go to print your #TTRPG remember that you need to charge at least about 6x the cost to print for sustainability.

Small to midsize publishers can take advantage of scale & you can't.

You are not Wizards, Evil Hat, Exalted Funeral, or Modiphius.

Ideally charge 10x an pay a bill.

Just checked and it looks like that was happening to me too. I went to see if there was a different mutuals feed that works better. I was using the one by skyfeed.xyz with the green logo, switching to the one by bsky.app seemed to fix the problem

I just had a great meeting with Tony from @plusoneexp.bsky.social about my upcoming project, Creature Capture Cards! Enjoy a cozy GM-less Monster Taming Tarot RPG either solo or with up to 4 players.

Hey, #ttrpg folks! I’ve now published 16 games to choose from! I’ve got a lot of solo games, but there’s also a few multiplayer games. I’ve got a variety of genres from cozy to horror, from strategy to vibes. If you like what I’ve written, consider leaving a rating/review!

i definitely picked this up from friends whose knowledge and bitterness both run deeper than my own, but i think "incurious" is probably the worst thing you can be right now. don't let exhaustion tick you over into entitlement or apathy; stay interested in other people and the world around you.

its so interesting how vaccuous this nostalgia is. like they dont even know what to be nostalgic *for* — yolo hats? monster energy? walmart? teen wolf? just endless products that exist as symbols of consumption

I had to expunge my thoughts on Bluesky's current, uh, choppy waters into a proper blog post (which jay can't take down for being too mean or saying 'lol' in a threatening way)

A codified 4-day work week.
We simply want to protect the way we've been working for over 3.5 years. The 4dww has proven benefits, such as increased productivity and improved employee satisfaction. It's part of what makes Kickstarter a special, innovative place to work.
Fair pay for our lowest-paid workers.
We're fighting for livable minimum salaries for roles that are undervalued by the market but crucial to keeping Kickstarter running. We believe none of our workers should struggle to make ends meet. Creators

The realization that if Floral Shoppe came out today, we'd be waxing nostalgic about Windows 7
cover for "Floral Shoppe" by Macintosh Plus (written as as Macプラス フローラルの専門店)

The head of a statue is superimposed on a pink and black checkered floor. A picture of a cityscape hangs on the wall

The history of RPG design has a familiar right-hand path — what-if wargaming — and a more obscure left-hand path. Improv theater games, Surrealist and Situationist games, New Games, parlor games, storytelling games... back into the Renaissance and presumably further.
