Alt for ability to say what I’m thinking about the dismantling of our government and the excellence of our government employees.
I don’t have time for all the posting that’s induced by ICE violence, killing alleged drug runners in boats illegally, or attempting to kidnap Maduro - why else would the CIA be on the ground there. And that’s without even focusing on Johnson’s lies, Vance’s advocacy for Young Nazis. Ugly time.

The explicitly bigoted, violence-embracing chat logs of Young Republican leaders was quite bad on its own, but as @anthonylfisher.bsky.social writes, JD Vance's defense of them was worse, showing how even directly pro-Hitler is welcome in MAGA.
Also, they think it's unfair if you call them fascists.
"Young Republican" leaders (one of them just six years younger than the vice president) gleefully talking like Nazis is shocking but not surprising.

Donald Trump re-normalized gutter racism for over a decade while anti-anti-Trumpers obsessed over wokeness. And they still don't get it.
Opinion | Young Republicans have a racism problem — and it’s all thanks to Trump
The Supreme Court might think racism is over — but GOP activists’ leaked chat logs proved Trump really has re-normalized bigotry in America.

Nothing more American than protesting for a better America. “I love my America, I hate Trump’s (Miller’s!) America.”
1. Republicans/right-wing media spent weeks blaming discrete acts of political violence on incitement by overheated Democratic rhetoric.
2. They are currently arguing that nationwide protests planned for tomorrow are "Hate America" rallies by antifa/pro-Hamas/communist agents.

A message to Mike Johnson & the GOP:
October 17, 2025 at 3:30 PM
I hate Trump’s authoritarian, racist, misogynist America. I love my America. We have to get these liars, grifters, and anti-Americans out of office.
Mike Johnson on No Kings: "We refer to it by its more accurate description -- the Hate America Rally. You're gonna bring together the Marxists, the socialists, the antifa advocates, the anarchists, and the pro-Hamas wing of the far left Democrat Party. That is the modern Democratic Party."
October 17, 2025 at 4:34 PM
Attempted branding as “Hate America Rally” should be modified as “Hate Miller’s, Trump’s, Vance’s, Vought’s, and Johnson’s America” - all should also be asking are they trying to take America back to pre-civil rights or to pre-Civil War?
Welcome to No Kings Eve. Trump is sounding and behaving kingly, and Republicans are at DEFCON 1 on the desperation meter. You can tell by their hallucinatory talking points, which are untethered from both reality and the Constitution. New from me at @msnbc.com:

Is the Russian military something the US military should aspire to?

Do you look at Russia’s military performance in Ukraine—3.5 years and a million casualties failing to conquer a smaller neighbor—and think “wow, I wish we could be more like that”?
Rep. Andy Harris: "I guarantee you China and Russia do not have woke policies in their military."

Thread. Important to recognize this is a choice by Republicans including every senator and representative. They could stop this. Instead they will inflict harms. Because they are cowards who won’t do what is right.
This is absolutely a lie. There is no reason shutdowns trigger layoffs. They never have before. Trump is simply using the shutdown as an excuse to take federal employees hostages and to further gut the government.

While they are continuing their ham-fisted efforts they will alienate more and more people who will decide they have had enough. Trump’s bluster about being irreversible will quickly be shoved aside when they are voted out. At least if the right people are voted in. (Not Schumer and Jeffries.)
Russ Vought: "Let it be said -- there are all manner of authorities to keep this administration's policy agenda moving forward, and that includes reducing the size and scope of the federal government, and we will be looking for opportunities to do that."

From the Editorial Board:

We’ve heard the president demean Chicago.
What we haven’t seen until now is Donald Trump describing our fellow citizens as “the enemy within” and adding our city to his list of potential “training grounds” for troops who enlist to defend America from foreign adversaries.
Editorial: No, President Donald Trump, Chicagoans are not ‘the enemy within’
Delivering a rambling speech to a highly unusual gathering of U.S. military brass, President Donald Trump labeled Chicago as a domestic enemy.

NEW: Sen. Tammy Duckworth is calling for Pete Hegseth to resign.

"If this PR stunt proved anything, it's that the best thing Pete Hegseth can do to strengthen our military is resign in disgrace immediately."
September 30, 2025 at 9:19 PM
LTC Amy McGrath had the best response to this today: “there were no male or female combat pilot standards. Either you could land your fighter on the deck or you couldn’t.” Combat standards were about success in combat. Hegseth can’t understand as he had no success, and blames rules of engagement.

I’m glad to have been wrong about today. Though Trump said he wanted to use the military in blue cities and eliminate them from the map of elections going blue he didn’t order anything like quasi martial law. And Hegseth just demonstrated his incompetence and inability to lead. No one cared. Morons.

This is demonstrably pathetic and a sign of true weakness.

The Feds lack the numbers to do what they want to do. They can hurt, yes, but not at the authoritarian scale that (de facto President) Miller desires.

So they go for the media-bait illusions of power.

Like this.

Profoundly weak flex.
ICE boats trawling the Chicago River. This is the DUMBEST thing I've seen in my entire life. No exaggeration. What's next? Humvees loaded with armed, masked agents patrolling Disney's Main Street U.S.A.?
