Zubarevich interview. Back story, the interviewer is RBK TV host. He desperately tries to ask questions to get answers from "all is great/not that bad" category. But the answers are not what he expects. Although she is using September numbers still. Fun quote:

Rosteh is front for majority of weapons factories (all money flowing through them). And majority of those factories have credit line in banks to support them while they fulfill govt contracts. What if they all decide to stop their payments to banks? That's a lot of power leverage. Just asking..

Please note that industrial output stats is -0.7%. This is what I was about to post. Now look at M2 index. Things do not match there as well. While certain individual stats do look okay-ish, the big picture does not fit together.

I'll be assembling new Bingo card for 2026 RU economy. Since they are and will be struggling for budget revenues, bingo card theme will be about things they will attempt to increase budget revenues. It will probably take several days.

This is _not_ a prediction. We had this sh*t since start of computers. Have a Word document with text background set to black. Things do not change, literacy is still low. And I'm not talking about computers.

1\ What happens to Russia if oil prices stay around recent levels?

Tl;dr at recent prices + exchange rates, my guesstimate is they'd end up 3-4tr rub short in 2026.

Prices & exchange rates will change though.

Here are a few things I noticed looking through Russian tax tables...

Oh, tomorrow RCB meeting. I would agree with experts on 0.5% rate decrease. Makes sense from politics standpoint.

Oh and btw for inflation going down - sure, that happens if spending drops.

I did notice how good ru adverts are now. Like really catchy. I imply that companies are spending on more marketing. Which is a logical move.

Everybody in RU are waiting for key rate to drop and RUB devaluation. In their mind that's the solution.

.. and if key rate drops, people would withdraw money from deposits and start buying property.. and other fairy tales.

Middle of month, need to write something, stay tuned.

Due the demand for mortgages in RU plenty of shady construction companies did appear (or were already there).

Not really in mood for trying to decipher how many mortgages are flats and how many are houses. And attempt to establish projected numbers.

1\ Good point raised here.

Russia did over 3tr rub repo "temporary money creation" yesterday. Their bond proceeds today were under 0.15tr rub (face value higher).

Repo says there're liquidity problems.

What's the extra cash for? I can think of better and worse scenarios.
Russia only sold 152 bn in bonds this morning. So, there’s probably a liquidity crunch happening. Unless the Ministry of Finance is preparing to offer more floaters and the banks are saving up (doubtful that banks are saving REPO funds up).
Wow! 🚨 In one of the largest REPO auctions ever, Russia’s central bank injected 3.27 trillion rubles into the banking system today. That’s 1.5% of nominal GDP in a single week.

Feel like bad news from RU economy just pouring in.

Milov's team assembled projected regional deficits from local news articles. And we're on Dec 4.

Education and numbers.

I need to bring this up to attention because it's often overlooked and is crucial part of understanding.

The is no school in the world which prepares how to handle any economic challenges.

To give you analogy, let's take driving school. Most common advice..
