I've long felt that there's no reason to hate on any member of The Dead, it's a vast tapestry and why not just embrace it all. But I feel like this goes hardest for Donna Jean, who I will always think of as "the Christian Linda Sharrock" and like all women in rock was hated mostly due to misogyny

My first Wilco show, 20 years ago tonight, a scorcher from the Ghost is Born tour that raised $250K for Riley Children's Hospital.
Had the joy of seeing the great Bonnie Raitt with my parents and daughter in Cincy last night. Her voice is as astounding at 75 as it was in my childhood, deep and wide, and she still absolutely tears it up on a Fender Stratocaster. Will surely wind up among my favorite shows of the year.

I intersected with the cosmic power of Black Sabbath just once, on a perfect autumn Indiana night. The sound they made together was still primal, colossal, perfect. The contradictions of Ozzy just made him more loveable. The fearsome frontman and the babbling, enthusiastic goof: one and the same.

Went up to Columbus last night and caught the Truckers in all their ragged glory. This loop through Southern Rock Opera is a special thing indeed, big and sprawling and messy, speaking to 2025 as powerfully as it did to 2001 and 1978. In the trees, angels and fuselage.
