"Ravenswood" is a Dungeons & Dragons sounding name for a neighborhood. Chicago based individual, but still New Orleans related. Georgia raised via UGA & SSI.

If you've got time to post, you've got time to send an email to your senators and House rep and tell them to fight loudly against this madness.

Too many folks think "it could never happen to me" because they've paid all their taxes & followed all the rules...or at least they think they have.

I should have already known about several of those ways, growing up where I did, but that wasn't something the locals of my demographic liked to talk about.

Can't wait for him to try and show the Bahamian government his credentials.

I used to think this was tin foil hat stuff from the left, but then I lived in New Orleans for 16 years and learned how many "legal" ways there are to steal people's homes from them.

This South Side Weekly report on the Chicago building raid is well worth reading. Most striking to me are the indications of collusion between federal authorities and the building owner and management to effect a mass eviction at the blighted property. southsideweekly.com/federal-agen...

(shared with permission) ICE/CBP has been active on Chicago's northwest side this morning—and also met with rapid responders.

Agents reportedly abducted one man from this Dunkin at Belmont and Milwaukee around 9:30am before speeding off.

One of the most important things we can do as citizens is ensure the police & state have followed the law & have the appropriate justification whenever they try to incarcerate someone.

One small thing I try to do everyday is post news stories about Chicago (like this one) over on Facebook. Most of my conservative family only get their news from that platform and TV.

Bridging my current life in Chicago and my past life in D.C., I argue today at @newrepublic.com that Democrats should ~never~ vote to fund this government. Make John Thune blow up Senate rules and Republicans wholly own the U.S. extra-military military doing war crimes against us, funded by us.
The Case for the Forever Shutdown
Senate Democrats actually allowing the GOP to stop funding the government is only the first step. Now they have to make the case that Trump’s government is illegitimate.

If you’re particularly despairing tonight, remember that you can always choose to show up tomorrow and help people. Narrow your capacity for concern to a specific person or place through volunteering. It feels good. Call your local school or aldercritter’s office to ask about opportunities.

I see pieces like this a lot, often w/ a spin of lamenting cultural degeneration, but reading is a LABOR issue, it’s declined because so many people are working overtime or two jobs & employers expect after hours work. France has Earth’s highest reading rate b/c long lunch breaks & labor protections

My CTA bus just had some weird issue, so the bus driver turned it off & turned it back on like an old Nintendo.

Worked just the same.

“Body-camera video of a Border Patrol agent involved in the shooting of a woman who was allegedly chasing agents in Brighton Park over the weekend shows an officer saying, “Do something, b----,” before pulling over & shooting the woman five times.”

DHS has lied, a lot, about every act of violence.

This is bad, our electeds are not going to use anything other than media appearances and strongly worded letters to stop it, and we need to protect each other.

Please 1) go outside, 2) find someone watching a corner during school drop off, 3) ask them how you can help.

If and when America finds a way out of authoritarianism, not only will ICE have to be abolished: All these people will need to be held accountable in a court of law for the monstrosities they are committing - those who are ordering them as well as those who are carrying them out.

Every single one.

We went to the Spanish language Lutheran church that our church has been supporting during the ICE raids this year this morning and they're doing a really lovely version of the Apostles Creed about immigrants.

(Translated with Google so forgive mistakes! Spanish in 1st image alt text, English 2nd)
I believe in God Almighty, who gave to his people in exile and during the Exodus, the God of Joseph of Egypt and Daniel of Babylon. The God of foreigners and immigrants.

I believe in Jesus Christ, the displaced king, who was born far from his home and his people, who had to flee a country with his parents because his life was in danger, and when he returned from exile, he had to suffer the oppression of the tyrant Pontius Pilate, servant of a foreign empire, who was persecuted, insulted, tortured, who was accused and condemned to death in an unjust trial. Jesus, who died alone and abandoned. However, on the third day, the despised one rose from the dead. Not as a foreigner, but as a center of unity to offer us citizenship in the heavens.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the eternal immigrant of the kingdom of God among us, who speaks all languages. He lives in all countries and brings together all races.

I believe that the church is a safe place for all foreign people and for all believers who make it up, who speak the same language, the smile, and have the same purpose, love.

I believe that the communion of the saints and saints. It begins when we accept the diversity of saints.

I believe that forgiveness makes us equal people and that reconciliation identifies us much more than race, language, or nationality.

I believe that in the resurrection God welcomes us all, as a single people, in which we are all different and equal at the same time.

I believe in eternal life beyond this world. A life in which no one will be an immigrant or a foreigner, but And we will all be citizens of the kingdom of God where it will never end. Amen.

🧵You know how men who commit mass shootings have almost always practiced violence on women first?

Agents of the state have been practicing this on Black communities for dec- ever. Forever. Babies in the car & etc. Remember Jacob Blake in Kenosha, WI, shot in the back repeatedly w/ kids in the car?

Statement on Abuse of Power of ICE and Other Federal Agents in Chicago
Black text on white background

Statement on Abuse of Power of ICE and Other Federal Agents in Chicago
On October 3, 2026 Alderwoman Jessie Fuentes (26th) witnessed ICE agents attempting to detain a patient at a clinic in her ward - a patient seeking medical care after ICE allegedly used excessive force and broke his leg. When Ald. Fuentes asked the agents for an arrest warrant - a basic constitutional requirement - they refused and instead unjustifiably put her in handcuffs.
Showing a warrant before detention is not optional; it's a cornerstone of constitutional law. And yet,
ICE agents continue to ignore this requirement.
This is not new, nor is it an isolated incident. ICE agents continue to violate civil liberties with impunity, and if we continue to allow this erosion of due process to go unchecked, we risk undermining the foundation of our democracy.
Due process is not negotiable. We will not stay silent. We must stand together to demand accountability. What's playing out day-by-day is a warning that we must organize and not relent.
Speak out and show up. Go to ICE watch trainings. Learn your rights so you can protect the rights of those around you.
And we, as members of the City Council hold firm that it will take a coalition all of us, united across racial and ethnic communities, political leanings, ages and socioeconomic status, to stand up to the disturbing pattern of abuse from ICE and the federal government, and the complete disregard for the rights we hold as Americans.
