On the other place, I rarely scrolled, I mostly just went through notifications from the people I turned them on for

Here we only just recently got notifs, and even then they're lacking fine control, so I've just...not been using/reading things here.

There have been many times where I've heard a game's soundtrack before playing it, thought it was meh or merely OK

Then I played the game and suddenly I love x5 as many of the tracks

I find this hilarious but also telling about how tastes and opinions work

This is a fork of Blender that has an overhaul of the interface that adds colored icons, verbose tooltips, and more industry-standard behavior across the board.

Seriously great article, and it points out some VERY KEY details, like how despite EA considering it a 'failure' (and thus putting blood in the water for the bigot brigade), it sold more than many of the year's other high-proflile, award-winning and equally 'woke' RPGs.

Maddy Myers does the legwork of comparing Veilguard numbers to other comparables from the same year. Spoilers: If EA thought they were going to sell 3 million copies they were just stupid.
Did Dragon Age: The Veilguard undersell or face unrealistic expectations?

Climate collapse is bad buuuuut also damn this is fantastic game-environment inspiration. Hadn't really considered a snow swamp before.
Ever wonder what snow in the swamp would look like? This is 5 miles into the Louisiana swamps in the Atchafalaya basin... it's unreal... having lived down there for the first 28 years of my life, we never saw anything like this.

Smashed records.

very easy to get caught up in the loud obnoxious grifter assholes who decry “wokeness” & complain representation is ruining their “hobby” but the thing that matters is, a bunch of people chanting TRANS RIGHTS raise $2mil+ for great charities twice a year, every year. that’s what it’s all about
Games Done Quick this year has been a great reminder that videogame culture - the actual culture, not aggrieved incels on Youtube - is pretty fucking cool.

You'll never hear about some grifter raising millions for charity to riotous applause.

A reminder as Musk-bots, Trump-bots, and other bots start hitting Bluesky: blocking users removes their replies from your posts entirely.

The correct way of handlin antagonizing parties is to block. Not reply. Not dunk. Not mute. Block. It stops their reach and effectiveness right there.

I have a similar frustration about pandemic coverage: way too many stories (especially on the right) about how pandemic concerns were overblown and we over-responded when in fact millions of Americans died and the measures we took were the reason that wasn't tens of millions.
DAMMIT NPR.

I spent nine months upgrading over TEN THOUSAND desktops at a F500 client. The grand total was over SEVENTY THOUSAND applications upgraded.

Y2K "didn't live up to the hype" because the industry busted ass to duct tape everything first.

People feared the computer glitch would mean "the end of the world as we know it." Thankfully, Y2K didn't live up to the hype after years and billions of dollars were spent on painstaking preparation.

Freya's Shapes library for Unity is great! I use it to render all the nodes and lines and other visual elements of my procedural game progression dependency graphs.

The fact that it supports immediate mode drawing means I don't have to keep track of creating and destroying visual elements.

Neat thing I just learned; in JavaScript, if you want a string like 3.42452e-8 in number format without it being garbled, you've gotta use toFixed() and pass the e value plus the number of characters after the decimal

The "e" part is all display, so you need extra precision to be visually accurate
