Some people will tell you that the Mary Rose never made it out of the harbour, but she was actually well travelled, at least for a ship in Henry VIII's navy.

This map shows some of the Mary Rose's more notable destinations - any near you? #Museum30 #Maps

Facial prosthesis, c.1917. THREAD for #RemembranceSunday🧵

From the moment the first machine gun rang out over the Western Front, one thing was clear: mankind’s military technology had wildly surpassed its medical capabilities. Bodies were battered, gouged, hacked, and gassed. /1

#OnThisDay, 4th October 1983, the Mary Rose went on display for the first time.

Back then the ship was still being sprayed with water, so many of our visitors remember getting wet - were you one of them? Let us know!

In 1828, eighteen-year old Charles Lefroy discovered this hoard of Anglo-Saxon coins.

Known as the 'Crondall Hoard' after the location of the find, it contained over 100 pieces. It remains the most important evidence for the start of English coinage.
