I think the reasons they want to fire him would not overlap with the different, arguably valid reasons to fire him (I would not fire him either because it’s better to go with perennial playoff team than gamble on some new-era coach that still might not get you T10 wins)

I’m not saying it’s not a factor by any means! What I’m getting at is to act as if that is the main contributing factor as to why James Franklin has not been able to beat top 10 teams is misguided in my opinion

I think viewing the recruiting process primarily through a lens of local community diversity would be misguided. If Oregon out-recruits Ohio State is it because Eugene is “more appealing to minorities” than Columbus? Pretty reductive imo

Comparing PSU to Michigan or Ohio State is one you can make on both an institutional and athletic level. Their spending in both categories is also in the same calibre. Franklin’s done great things! He is also worthy of criticism because of PSU’s status in regard to those (again, comparable) programs

Penn State, one of the first land grant institutions, with a storied football program even before any of the Sandusky fallout, with considerably more resources than any other university in the state by a mile except maybe Penn. just a scrappy underdog that has come a long way

I will vote for the guy who says we need to break the FOP to create effective law enforcement that responds to community needs

If anything I think it proves the long-storied divide of what makes a good NFL coach vs what makes a good college coach and how little the two circles mix
