The level of hype about today's phone call between Trump and Putin is ridiculous. They will discuss all kinds of concessions that they think Ukraine should make, and the 30 days unconditional ceasefire that Ukraine has actually offered will almost certainly not be on the agenda.

Putin needs Trump's help to stop Ukraine's strikes on Russian oil infrastructure because its interfering with raising money for the war, but in a way that allows Russian missiles to continue pouring onto Ukrainian families.

Hitting Russian oil facilities is a cornerstone in Ukraine’s strategy for winning the war. It’s not surprising that Putin is in favor of a limited ceasefire on those types of objects.

Russia's shadow fleet of oil tankers didn't come out of nowhere. Most shadow fleet ships were sold to Putin by Greece's shipping oligarchs. The EU needs deep reform to promote transparency & accountability. That also means stripping Greece - which is run by these oligarchs - of any say in Brussels.

If the US had continued to support Ukraine, we may have been months away from the end of the war. The Russians would not have been able to continue to fight for much longer. They were making almost no progress, taking huge casualties.
