It's incredibly cringe lib to think writing tweets is going to "combat the dangerousness" of the right.
IMO it's hard to combat the dangerousness of the right by participating in a platform where they aren't present.
I think the best way to explain the X vs Bluesky preference is whether a person thinks the left is more annoying than the right is dangerous.

The reason so many Noah Smiths end up on the X side of that equation is that while the left annoys them personally, the right mostly endangers other people.

I just want to thank those of you who reached out to wish me a good one.
Today is International Men’s Day.

This is the most incorrect take I've seen on Bluesky.
Man you guys gotta be more normal about the one guy on your train not wearing headphones, it's annoying but it's not, like, a decay of society level issue.

This is one of my biggest cringe lib pet peeves. So you found one person who claims to a) have voted for Trump, b) be mentally capable of reasoning that his policies are bad and that their vote was a mistake. And now you are projecting that into some sort of awakening?
@walshfreedom.bsky.social I thought you'd want to see this. People are waking up. I hope it's more numerous than that. But it looks like we're seeing people starting to wake up.

My unfavorable opinion is that I support protests but I do not support corny signs. The protest should be about displaying genuine anger, not to be funny for your friends or to go viral.

I've seen like 26 variations of the same take on Ezra Klein's way of thinking or analyzing, and zero on the way he talks. His permanent rehearsed podcast spiel affect is incredibly grating.

el-oh-el at Anthropic for pioneering the AI CLI and then proceeding to turn their VSCode extension into a regular chat extension. I thought their belief was that code editors will cease to exist soon?

I'll admit that a lot of AI products initially suck, then eventually become decent to good, so maybe that'll happen with Zuck's "smart" glasses. But whereas autonomous cars or AI code assistants solve obvious problems, face-mounted wearables still look more like sci-fi fantasy in search of a problem

There's a narrative that players like Leyva just need time to develop, and while that's obviously true, there's also the possibility that the Sounders trying to shoehorn him into being a 6 instead of the 10 he so clearly is delayed his development.
💯 and counting 🙌

Congratulations to Danny on reaching 100 all-competition appearances for the club!

I wish someone had told the Sounders this before they did their awful rebrand.

I'm too grouchy and cynical to put much hope into individual politicians, but goddamn this is amazing content.

I would pay good money for a music streaming service that has no AI generated music.

There are many valid critiques of AI, but claiming it's outright useless is ignorant. The software industry is getting eaten by AI as we speak. It's kinda crazy to see people claim otherwise and think they have a clue as to what's happening.
85-90 % for strictly limited least ambiguous info set to 30-50% for 'regular' typical stuff.

If I had staff, friend, software, with 10-70% unreliability factor...not useful. And if same staff, friend, software yielded outright lies (false court cites, false bios of real people) and perpetuated

It's amazing (& sad) just how terrible Amazon dot com is now. Nearly all searches yield thousands of off-brand garbage products. It's impossible to filter anything down to a reasonable selection of reliable quality. I'm inclined to ask how there are no competitors, but I think I know the answer.

I'm not sure how anyone can listen to the content of what he's saying or the manner it which he says it and not think to themselves "what a fucking dork."
Mark Zuckerberg says Meta's chatbots will supplement your real friends: "The average American has fewer than 3 friends ... but has demand for ... 15 friends" (h/t x.com/romanhelmetg...)

I can't remember where but I read someone say that we don't need to do this whataboutist stuff with Republicans because their criticism (e.g. "but her emails") was never sincere. It's always been bad-faith bullshit so pointing out the hipocrisy is a waste of time. There are no referees.
Trump officials creating a massive security breach is bad enough. That those involved had often criticized Hillary Clinton’s mishandling of classified information makes it worse, @dgraham.bsky.social writes. theatln.tc/PgtWxSR7
But Her Emails?
The Signal security breach would be bad enough if those involved had not spent so much time criticizing Hillary Clinton for her mishandling of classified information.

i wish i could live in the tom nichols's world where if liberals hadn't proposed that the guys who have been doing fascist baby steps for decades might be fascists everyone would be listening to tom nichols say "ok folks, this is it: fascism" and following his lead.

I was already tired of the emails with a subject line of "omg Pete we need $9.46 from you or Trump is gonna do the fourth reich"
TEXT #COURAGE to give $5 to your favorite Democratic Senator who had the courage to stand athwart catatrophe yelling "what if there's a worse catastrophe later?"
