Vance’s grotesqueness aside, the whole thing is one of the most horrific acts of betrayal ever committed by a democratic state against another. Just a moral abomination and a permanent stain on everyone who supports it
So fucking gross

I hear Nigel Farage is declining interview requests. First time for everything, I suppose. I suspect he’ll eventually speak to whoever is least likely to challenge him properly.

The right answer - which Tom Holland will hopefully adopt and many outside far-right knitting circles already have - is just to leave the far right to entertain itself on X, and stop paying any attention to what happens there.

Trump just boasted about how the stock market took off “like a rocket” after he won, specifically the S&P 500. It was at 5,853 in late October. It’s at 5,935 now. It was at about 3,800 when Biden took office. Facts just don’t matter to his supporters, though, so he can just say whatever he wants.

So I'm standing in the grocery store parking lot and it's freaking cold.
A very classy old woman sees me and walks the entire distance across the lot.
"You give that man shit," she says.
Then walks away.

Sadiq Khan, who won his mayoralty again in 2024, is being ‘rewarded for failure’, while an identical honour for Andy Street, who literally lost his, is not…

What could possibly explain this glaring anomaly?
this kind of obviously biased headline is so frustrating when MSM is fighting for credibility

1) New Year’s Honours list is nominated by public not by political leaders

2) Khan has won three elections so the average Londoner clearly doesn’t think he’s a failure

Can’t stop thinking about Marcus Fakana - stuck in jail in Dubai for a holiday romance. The absolutely horrible decision by the girl’s mother to report him to the police. The sense that racism and classism are at play - if he had been a white middle class boy I suspect things would be different.

Two conclusions I can draw from the Conservatives’ reaction: 1. Performing mean-minded hypocrisy is the one Opposition skill they have mastered; 2. They are responsive, to an unsavoury degree, to the fever swamps of the online right whose hatred of Khan is for all too obvious reasons.

Right-wing attacks singling out Sadiq Kahn - who is obviously & demonstrably an exceptionally popular mayor as far as Londoners are concerned - are so blatantly Islamophobic & racist that we don't even say it anymore.

But we should say it. It isn't normal.
