Another open-weights model creeping ever closer to the frontier models from the AI majors.

While it's very tough to get hardware that can run these, z.ai is selling it as a service for maybe 10% as much as anthropic charges. Hard to see where the trillions of industry profit are going to come from!

I think it’s also true that loneliness among women has historically been treated as an individual problem, while loneliness among men is treated as a societal problem. That, in turn, comes from an assumption that women are supposed to earn the company of others while men are entitled to it.
men’s loneliness gets “more airtime”?

baby I have lived the past three decades of my life witnessing corporate media elevate men’s loneliness into a full-blown balls-to-the-wall CRISIS once every 4-5 years

“more airtime” is hilarious

Today is a good day to remember, and to say, that the #MeToo movement was right, and was righteous, and has been vindicated over and over again. There was no overreach. There was no excess. There was no they-went-too-far.

So much work remains to be done.

Our whole thing in Silicon Valley is that we're supposed to be weird and non-conformist. It's depressing that so many engineers are silent because they're scared of a few bullies at the top of the industry.
"I also worry that Silicon Valley now punishes outward earnestness or virtue; young technologists have expressed fears of appearing soft—or worse—woke."

I've never called a representative before, but I did today! It's so wrong to have millions of people in the party work so hard to achieve the victory we saw on Tuesday, only for the most vulnerable to lose healthcare because a few senators are spineless.

You don't to tell poor people what to do though, and unfortunately that power trip drives a lot of philanthropy.
study after study after study shows that literally just handing people money and telling them "do what you want with this" reduces homelessness, increases food security for children, makes it more likely people will find and retain jobs.1
