I think people want AI to be useless, to consume huge amounts of water, etc. because that lets you find another reason for it to be bad that isn’t: it’s useful and that’s why it’s bad. The thing works and is getting better, millions have found use cases for it, and that is why it is bad.

asterisk because i think we look at that period of stability deeply red rose-colored glasses. when people think prosperity they don’t think “family of six sharing a 1200 sq ft home living largely on canned goods and hand me downs” but that was the reality

Allison Riggs won the election for NC Supreme Court. Changing the rules after the election to throw out the votes of tens of thousands of North Carolinians who followed all of the rules is a travesty.

/4 In my view, a movement that so transparently rejects the deal — so obviously adopts the policy “the only valid result is I win” — is not entitled to the protections of the votes-instead-of-sticks approach.

They should get the sticks.

North Carolina Democrats WILL fight this decision. But make no mistake, the statewide court of appeals bench has cowered to political pressure and corruption from their own party. The NCGOP and RNC are trying to steal an election and test the waters for future election denial.

Most rich people understand that the candidates need their money, not their sparkling personalities. Elon may never realize how toxic he is, but the actual politicians certainly will.
Elon's involvement in the Wisconsin Supreme Court race cost his candidate around 5% of the vote--even though he spent $25 million dollars on his behalf.

Elon's endorsee ran 5 points behind the other statewide Republican candidate. That's an unbelievably negative return on investment.

One statistic for you:

→ Net jobs created under Clinton and Obama: 33.8 million.
→ Net jobs created under Bush, Bush, AND Trump: 1.9 million.

That is not a typo.
Of Course Trump Will Tank the Economy. It’s What Republicans Do.
As the president’s “Liberation Day” nears, it’s time to liberate ourselves from the vicious cycle of Democrats having to clean up the GOP’s messes.

The New York Times is the first to put out comprehensive estimates on the cost of a year without U.S.A.I.D. and they’re higher than I thought:
- 1.65 million deaths from AIDS
- 500,000 from lack of vaccines
- 550,000 from lack of food aid
- 290,000 from malaria
- 310,000 from TB
Killing children is by design, I'm afraid. "Pro-natalists" like Musk claim they aren't racist, but their pressure to have children is solely focused on white women, while they back policies that literally kill of non-white children.

He's a eugenicist.

Opinion | Musk Said No One Has Died Since Aid Was Cut. That Isn’t True.
A journey through the front lines of global poverty shows that when the world’s richest men slash aid for the world’s poorest children, the result is sickness, starvation and death.
