If you're struggling to stay creative during the dark part of the year, go back to what you love. Re-read, re-watch, rediscover old favourites. Remind yourself why you're doing this. Find your joy.

The White House has been caught.

The administration inserted a photo of Bill Clinton, Michael Jackson, and Diana Ross into the Epstein files and falsely implied it showed them with victims.

In reality, it’s a publicly available fundraiser photo featuring Jackson and Ross’s own children.

The name "Popular Science" doesn't mean we shift our coverage depending on public opinion. It means we cover relevant subjects that are rigorously researched, reliable, and grounded in reality.

And trans lives are grounded in reality.

We see y'all. No matter what.

First-of-a-kind study shows encouraging data for trans kids who socially transition
Ninety-four percent of participants in a new study stood firm in their trans identity after five years, and "detransitioning" is rare.

This is true for most endeavors and is what makes creation so difficult for certain folks. It was a hurdle for me personally, but for folks who need to hear it — you bring a unique perspective to whatever project you're working on. Even if it doesn't light the world on fire, someone will love it.
To make games you need a seed of entitlement to think you can do something better, but you must never let it make you so stupid as to think you've done something that's never been done before.
Indie Dev discovers the game they're making basically already exists, worried of being deemed a ripoff. Original dev responds.

“it’s reasonable to ask questions about trans girls in sports” was always intended to mainstream transphobia.

It’s absurd that people fell for it. Democrats are constantly letting oppressors set the terms of debate instead of just saying “no, fuck you.”

Earlier tonight: Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene's bill effectively banning gender-affirming health care for youth passed in the House. This is a serious attack on parents' ability to make *private* medical decisions for their families. www.advocate.com/politics/mtg...
Marjorie Taylor Greene’s bill criminalizing gender-affirming care for minors passes with Democrats’ support
The outgoing Georgia congresswoman was able to successfully make transgender young people a target as one of her last acts in Congress.

Just so I'm clear on this, computer memory has tripled in price because a bunch of it that hasn't been produced yet has been ordered to populate GPUs that aren't installed in data centers that aren't built yet in order to service a demand that doesn't exist to make profits that don't happen.

One argument I used to make to my students about why it was important to learn history (and historical thinking) is that someone was always going to be trying to tell you things were natural or had always been this way and that you needed to be able to see that as an exercise of power.

Whenever I see this article I’m going to share it, because everyone connected to higher ed needs to read this for a great if chilling overview of the bone deep infection that gAI has become in the system.
„CSU—US’s largest public uni system—went all-in with a $17mill partnership with OpenAI. . .CSU unveiled its grand technological gesture just as it proposed slashing $375mill from its budget. While admin cut ribbons on AI, they were cutting faculty positions, academic programs, student services.“
AI is Destroying the University and Learning Itself
Students use AI to write papers, professors use AI to grade them, degrees become meaningless, and tech companies make fortunes. Welcome to the death of higher education.
