They are right - And any National Commission should be given a rapid timetable to come to a conclusion because the arguments have been obvious for years. Decades.
APPG Members Sean Woodcock MP and Jo Platt MP today warn that Westminster's First Past The Post electoral system could deliver chaos, and call on the government to launch a National Commission on Electoral Reform.
🚨"Right now, Labour has the chance to lead this conversation and head off this issue. There is no time for complacency."

If you were looking for an exposition of what British values *could* be you could do a lot worse than Ian McKellen wielding Shakespeare like a rapier.
Sir Ian McKellen performing a monologue from Shakespeare’s Sir Thomas More on the Stephen Colbert show. Never have I heard this monologue performed with such a keen sense of prescience. Nor have I ever been in this exact historical moment.TY Sir Ian, for reaching us once again.

The long and the short of this.
I get how MAGA worked in 2016, but only Epstein explains why all the tech bros coagulated around Trump in 2024.
Epstein's money, his Silicon Valley/Russian-backed libertarian eugenicist ideology, survived his demise
Thread starting with 🚨 TWO SHOCKING FACTS: Epstein was in direct contact with Putin, boasting of personal invites to St Petersburg. He co-owned Thiel’s Valar Ventures w/ Ehud Barak, backing Israeli surveillance firm Carbyne. 1/12

457 UK armed forces personnel died in Afghanistan during the 20-year deployment.
This is a fucking hideous thing to say. Even by his non-existent standards.
Trump on NATO: "I've always said, will they be there if we ever needed them? That's really the ultimate test. I'm not sure of that. We've never needed them. They'll say they sent some troops to Afghanistan and this or that. And they did. They stayed a little back, off the front lines."

Analyzing Trump’s musings is a fool’s errand— he’s incoherent, he lies as he breathes, and he makes stuff up. We cannot use his speech to guess whether he plans to use force against Greenland, wants to keep NATO, etc. There’s no point in headlines announcing « Trump rules out/plans XYZ »

We don't need to play games parsing US law or international treaties to figure out if it's legal for Trump to do this. It's not. It's crystal clear it's all illegal. Everyone's just pretending we're not at the point where the thing to do is to remove him. It's an advanced state of political denial.
Again, I’m going to keep banging the drum that the fact we are threatening the territorial sovereignty of our closest allies is not only a gross violation of our UN & NATO treaty obligations & poses a massive threat to national security & world order but also should immediately end this presidency.

No Kemi, Trump threatening to invade a NATO ally is not a "second order issue."

It’s a direct challenge to Britain’s security and the future of NATO.
