I can't stop thinking about the purported drug smugglers being murdered by the US military. The punishment for drug offenses isn't the death penalty. This is just bloodlust and men in suits playing with lives they don't care about. It's truly grotesque and gravely compromises this country.

Our first freeze is coming this weekend, and I'm not ready for my lush green garden to go away. Let's hope the cold front isn't as severe as thought to be, and I have more time!
Zagreus thoroughly inspects an aji dulce pepper plant. For what? I'm not sure. A honey bee enjoys the blossoms of a Thai basil. A tiny jumping spider sat on a leaf of a cubanelle pepper plant, moving their little chelicerae excitedly... or nervously. Didn't have the chance to ask.

My first thought was “wow I hope this guy didn’t give out his name because he could absolutely be charged” and yup, he is correct to stay anonymous.

This man’s account is shocking. His neighbors’ situation is shocking. The entire Chicago raid is shocking.
On the other side was a mom and her 7-year-old daughter, pleading for his help. "I wasn't planning on letting her stay, but I didn't know what the hell was going on," the man said of his Venezuelan migrant neighbors. But he quickly relented. The little girl was inconsolable and hid under his bed. "I didn't want them to take her," said the man, who didn't want to be named because he fears he'll be targeted by federal authorities for his actions. "I gave her my bedroom, and I just told her, 'Just stay there. Don't open, don't, shh, just stay quiet," he recalled telling the mom and daughter as he choked back tears.

After noticing she and her web were looking pretty rough, we lost the last yellow orb weaver, Hopper, on Sunday. Jean, Lady, and Barbara all disappeared shortly before then. I know they're spiders, but we grew attached. Tonight, I noticed a newcomer, a spotted orb weaver (pic 4). Name pending.
Jean, one of the four yellow garden orb weavers inhabiting the garden. She arrived around the same time as Lady, and oversees the indigo black chocolate and rosella tomatoes. Hopper on the left, and Lady on the right. They protect the principe borghese tomatoes. Hopper arrived a few weeks after Barbara, and Lady arrived in the late summer. Barbara, the first yellow garden orb weaver who appeared first in the spring. She watched over the squash/gourd tunnel.

A Democratic messaging firm ("Navigator Research") tied to the establishment has sent out a memo on govt shutdown fight around DC this am.

They want the Democrats/progressives to focus on "bipartisanship" and focus no pissing of Republicans by talking about "stopping Trump." 🙃

There will never be a time where the media is not saturated or when it’s easy to break through. That doesn’t mean you should stop communicating. I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE.

This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.

It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.
