A significant reason for the perception that cyclists are constantly flagrantly breaking the law is that a lot of drivers don't know what the law is.

I'd love to see some studies exploring how much of drivers' antipathy toward bike lanes is simply due to jealousy that cyclists don't get stuck in congestion.
Those who claim bike lanes slow traffic either don't understand the facts or don't care about them b/c they simply dislike cyclists.
